A method of separating a saccharide from an aqueous product solution of the cellulose hydrolysis process is provided. The aqueous product solution comprises a saccharide and a cellulose swelling agent. The cellulose swelling agent is zinc chloride, magnesium chloride or a combination thereof. The method comprises the following steps in the given order:

Disclosed is a method of separating carbohydrate, including: mixing formic acid with heteropoly acid, chloride or bromide of lithium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, or iron, or combinations thereof to form a mixing liquid. The method also includes dissolving a cellulose biomass by the mixing liquid to form a solution, mixing water and the solution to hydrolyze the cellulose biomass for forming a carbohydrate solution, and mixing an extractant and the carbohydrate solution to extract the formic acid out of the carbohydrate solution. The heteropoly acid, the chloride or bromide of lithium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, or iron, or combinations thereof in the carbohydrate solution is separated out of the carbohydrate solution by ion exclusion chromatography separation to obtain a carbohydrate.

In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a sugar product and method for fabricating the same is provided. The method includes mixing an acid compound and lithium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, zinc chloride or iron chloride or lithium bromide, magnesium bromide, calcium bromide, zinc bromide or iron bromide or heteropoly acid to form a mixing solution, adding a cellulosic biomass to the mixing solution for a dissolution reaction, and adding water to the mixing solution for a hydrolysis reaction to obtain a sugar product. The present disclosure also provides a sugar product fabricated from the method.

The present disclosure is directed to methods for producing butyric acid comprising fermenting a feedstock using a bacterium. The feedstock comprises lactic acid, or the feedstock comprises lactic acid and at least one carbohydrate.

Embodiments of the disclosure provide a filter structure. A second porous film having a plurality of second holes is disposed on a first porous film having a plurality of first holes. The second holes are smaller than the first holes. The filter structure is dried by an easy and power-saving method such as compression.

A filtration dehydration apparatus, which comprises: a filter, composed of a filtration layer and an absorption layer while allowing the filtration layer that is orientated facing toward the absorption layer to be a first side, and allowing a surface of the absorption layer that is orientated facing toward the filtration layer to be a second side; a supporting structure, for supporting and fixedly securing the filter; a solid waste collector, for collecting solid object left on the first side; and an extrusion unit, for pressing the absorption layer to squeeze out water in the absorption layer; wherein the first side is provided for a solid-liquid mixture to be placed thereon so as to allow the liquid containing in the solid-liquid mixture to flow into the absorption layer through the filtration layer while enabling solid objects in the solid-liquid mixture to be filtered out and thus left on the first side.

A method for refining oil includes contacting an oil with hydrogen to perform a hydrodeoxygenation reaction using iron oxide as a catalyst. The iron oxide comprises ferrous oxide (FeO), ferrum dioxide (FeO), ferric oxide (FeO), ferroferric oxide (FeO), or combinations thereof.

In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for preparing a sugar is provided. The method includes mixing an organic acid and a solid acid catalyst to form a mixing solution, adding a cellulosic biomass to the mixing solution to proceed to a dissolution reaction, and adding water to the mixing solution to proceed to a hydrolysis reaction to obtain a sugar.

The disclosure provides a method for liquefying biomass, including: (a) mixing a solid organic ammonium salt containing single nitrogen with at least one organic compound which is capable of forming a hydrogen bond with the solid organic ammonium salt to form a first mixture; (b) heating the first mixture until the first mixture becomes a solution; (c) mixing a biomass and an acid catalyst with the solution to form a second mixture; and (d) heating the second mixture to make the biomass therein convert into a liquefied product.

A high pressure extraction apparatus and extracting method therefor are adapted to maintain a medium at the supercritical state to extract substance-to-be-extracted. The apparatus includes an extraction tank, a piston and a control unit. The control unit controls the piston to reciprocate in the extraction tank as well as controls the pressure of the extract space of the tank, feeding of the substance, discharge of extract, and discharge of leftover. Accordingly, the apparatus performs a continuous supercritical extraction.

High-pressure extraction apparatus and method

A light transformation particle is provided. The light transformation particle of the invention includes a light-shifting layer containing at least one light-emitting material, wherein the light-emitting layer transforms ultraviolet light, yellow-green light, or infrared light to red-orange light or blue-violet light. The light transformation particle further includes a core layer and/or a shell layer. The present invention further provides a photobioreactor containing the light transformation particle of the invention.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, a method for preparing a phenolic compound is provided. The method includes providing a lignin depolymerization product, and hydrogenating the lignin depolymerization product under iron oxide and hydrogen gas to prepare a phenolic compound. The prepared phenolic compound is a crude phenolic composition including phenol, methylphenol, dimethylphenol or a combination thereof.

An extraction apparatus capable of continuously and efficiently extracting a biological substance is provided. Multiple rotation discs are utilized in the extraction apparatus to significantly improve the efficiency of extracting the biological substance by using an extraction solvent. Specifically, when the extraction solvent is applied to extract lipids from microalgae, retention time of the microalgae in the extraction solvent can be significantly increased, and solubility of the microalgal lipids in the extraction solvent can be improved. Hence, the efficiency of extracting the lipids from the microalgae by using the extraction solvent can be enhanced. On the other hand, owing to the improvement of the efficiency of extracting the lipids from the microalgae, the amount of the extraction solvent can be reduced, and production costs can be reduced as well.

A thermal regenerative granular-moving bed apparatus for a gas de-pollutant process includes a plurality of recycling granular material, a heat-and-clean unit, a heat-recycling unit, and a granular material-cleaning unit. The heat-and-clean unit heats the granular material to further heat a polluted gas, de-pollutes the gas, and detains pollutants or particles from the de-polluting. The heat-recycling unit constructed on top of the heat-and-clean unit has the hot up-flowing de-polluted gas heat-exchange with the down-flowing cold granular material. The granular material-cleaning unit transports the granular material from a lower-end of the heat-and-clean unit to an upper end of the heat-recycling unit and re-activates the granular material during the transportation. By providing the thermal regenerative granular-moving bed apparatus, heating, de-polluting and filtering upon the gas can be carried out in a single unit, and also energy in the de-polluted gas can be transferred and thus saved to pre-heat the cold granular material.

A granular moving-bed apparatus is introduced to have an inlet louvered wall, an outlet louvered wall opposing to the inlet louvered wall, a granular path formed in between, a plurality of serial roof-shaped flow-corrective elements located along the granular path, and a predetermined type of granular materials flowing inside the granular path. The inlet louvered wall and the outlet louvered wall are particularly constructed to form serial hopper-shaped structures that define the granular path. The roof-shaped flow-corrective element is systematically displaced with respect to the hopper-shaped structure by specific criteria so that problems of corrosions, plaques and stagnant zones formed to the louvered walls of the apparatus can be avoided.
