O-ring/back-up ring systems that are suitable for use in high pressure applications, including those of 70 MPa automotive hydrogen storage applications, to form a seal between first and second connector bodies. Such sealing systems comprise a back-up ring having a base portion and a flange portion, wherein such ring is configured to prevent extrusion of an O-ring into a gap existing between the back-up ring and a groove into which the back-up ring and O-ring are disposed. High pressure gas storage systems comprising such sealing systems, and methods of sealing a connection in a high pressure hydrogen storage system using such sealing systems.

Passive temperature supervision devices for detecting temperature changes in compressed gaseous fuel storage systems of fuel cell systems. More specifically, systems and methods for detecting temperature changes in compressed gaseous fuel storage systems such as compressed gaseous fuel tanks of motor vehicles, where increases and decreases in temperature can be detected without the need for electric supervision systems.

Passive temperature supervision device for a compressed gas fuel tank

A master/slave tank system for storing a compressed hydrogen gas, where the system employs an electrically driven shut-off valve for each tank in the system. The tank system includes a master tank and a slave tank for storing the gas. A first line is coupled to the master tank for providing the gas stored therein to a fuel cell stack. A master tank shut-off valve is positioned in the first line between the master tank and a pressure regulator. A second line is coupled to the slave tank for providing the gas stored therein to the master tank as the pressure difference between the slave tank and the master tank changes. An electrically driven slave tank shut-off valve is positioned within the second line, where the slave tank shut-off valve automatically closes the second line in response to an increase in the differential pressure across the slave tank valve.
