In a device for the aftertreatment of exhaust gases from an emission source, in particular an internal combustion engine, with an exhaust tract through which an exhaust gas can flow in a direction of flow, with at least one catalytic converter, the catalytic converter having a ceramic honeycomb body has: a catalytically active surface coating, and with an electrically heatable heater, the heater having a metallic electrical conductor, the honeycomb body further having a plurality of flow channels which can be flowed through from a gas inlet side to a gas outlet side, wherein the conductor is integrated in the ceramic honeycomb body, and is arranged downstream of the gas inlet side and upstream of the gas outlet side, as viewed in the direction of flow.

Catalytic converter for treating exhaust gases

A device for the aftertreatment of exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, having at least one catalytic converter, through which exhaust gas can flow, and at least one muffler formed by a closed volume and through which exhaust gas can flow along an inflow section to an outflow section. The catalytic converter is formed by a honeycomb body that has a plurality of flow channels through which exhaust gas can flow. The honeycomb body is accommodated in a casing tube, which surrounds the honeycomb body, and is connected to the casing tube in a materially bonded manner. The catalytic converter is arranged in the interior of the muffler.

A metallic honeycomb body with channels through which a gas may flow, made up of layers of at least partially structured sheet metal, the layers of sheet metal having at least in subregions at least two different structures, of which the first structure, with a greater structure height (H), determines the size of the channels and the second structure has a much smaller structure height (h) between troughs and peaks and the form and/or the structure height (H) of the second structure being chosen such that a ceramic coating applied later may fill the troughs of the second structure on average to at least 10%, in particular at least 50%, of their structure height (h). With the honeycomb body according to the invention, more coating material per unit of volume is durably attached in a metallic honeycomb body without excessively increasing the pressure loss. This is of advantage particularly for applications for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) in diesel exhaust gases.

A device for cleaning exhaust gases includes: a housing configured such that exhaust gas is flowable through the housing in a main throughflow direction; an injector configured to dose a fluid into a region of the housing through which exhaust gas flows; an evaporator arranged in the housing, the evaporator having a plurality of surface elements extending along the main throughflow direction of the housing, and the fluid being dosable into the fluid along a direction extending perpendicularly to the main throughflow direction of the housing; and a heater configured to electrically heat the evaporator.

A honeycomb body for exhaust gas aftertreatment includes a first end face, a second end face, a central axis that penetrates the two end faces and a length. The honeycomb body has at least one at least partially structured metallic layer which is disposed about the central axis. A structure of the at least one metallic layer has elevations and depressions which extend at least over part of the length of the honeycomb body and run obliquely to the central axis. At least one metallic connecting strip is provided between adjacent regions of the at least one metallic layer. The metallic connecting strip is shorter than the length of the honeycomb body and forms a brazed connection or welded connection to the adjacent regions. A method for producing such a honeycomb body and a motor vehicle having the honeycomb body are also provided.

A carrier body includes an overall surface having at least one coating portion with a catalytically active coating including at least one type of catalyst elements disposed in dispersed form at a surface of the carrier body. The catalyst elements have a mean spacing along the surface of at least 3 micrometers. The surface has a mean roughness depth Rof 2 to 10 micrometers. The carrier body has a maximum increase in pressure loss compared to a carrier body with a smooth and uncoated surface of 25%. A process for producing a carrier body and an exhaust gas treatment unit and a vehicle having a carrier body, are also provided.
