A pressure shoe () includes a press surface () for directly pressing finishing tape onto a radial circumferential surface () of a rotating workpiece section () during a finishing process. A plurality of expansion elements () is formed in the pressure shoe (). Each of expansion elements () are expandable individually and independently of one another radially while deforming the press surface () in a direction of the circumferential surface () of the workpiece section (), so that during the finishing process, the shape of the circumferential surface () of the workpiece section can be influenced in a targeted manner via different expansion of the expansion elements () distributed over the press surface ().

Pressure shoe with expansion chamber

A pressing device () for pressing finishing tape against circumferential surfaces () of substantially cylindrical work piece sections () in a finishing process includes at least one elastically bendable pressing element () that is substantially inelastic in the longitudinal direction. A support element () has two bearings (), which are arranged at a distance from each other. The pressing element () is fastened to the two bearings, and the two bearings are arranged in such a manner that finishing tape is pressed against a circumferential surface () by the pressing element () across a contact angle () using a pressing force. The pressing device () is adjustable in order to process work piece sections () of different diameters. The pressing element may be a toothed belt () having tooth-like ribs (), and the toothed belt () is interlockingly mounted in the support element () using the tooth-like ribs ().
