Foil bags are used as a primary packaging for liquids, the bags permitting the liquid to be taken therefrom without the application of a considerable amount of force. A container is provided for a medicinal liquid, the container being gas-tight and liquid-tight so that it is storable over many months. The container includes a collapsible foil bag on which a flange, which is stable in respect of shape, is disposed. The flange is designed for fitting onto a discharge connection member. The container can be disposed in a casing which is stable in respect of shape. The medicinal liquid does not come into contact with air and is protected from the effect of light. The medicinal liquid may be dispensed from the foil bag in many partial quantities over a prolonged period of time, with a respective partial amount thereof being converted into an aerosol by means of an atomizer.

A microstructured nozzle consists of a number of channels produced by microstructuring a plate-shaped member. In the nozzle the channels are located between projections which are arranged side by side in rows and project from a base plate. This microstructured base plate is covered with a cover plate. The channels are narrowly defined in terms of shape, cross sectional area and length. The nozzle contains a filter as the primary structure and a secondary structure downstream of the filter. The nozzle is used, for example, with an atomiser which produces an aerosol from a fluid containing a medicament.

The technical problem of the invention is to improve the wetting of wood fibers with a binding agent. This technical problem is solved according to the present invention by a device for wetting wood fibers () with a binding fluid, with a transport pipe () for transporting the wood fibers (), with a fan () for generating a transport air current, with a guide tube () connected to the transport pipe (), with a fan () for generating a conveying air current in the guide tube (), with means () for supplying the binding fluid in the guide tube (). The invention also relates to a process for wetting wood fibers with a binding fluid.

A fluid can be discontinuously atomized with an atomizer of the present invention. The atomizer can include a helical spring, disk spring or gas spring, acting as a pressure spring, as an energy storage device, a cylinder, piston, two ducts and two valves. Atomization can be initiated manually by triggering a locking mechanism. The energy storage device can be disposed outside a storage container for the fluid. The energy storage device can be provided mechanical energy manually. Via the piston, the stored energy can exert pressure onto the fluid in the cylinder, which ranges from 1 MPa to 5 MPa (10 bar to 50 bar). Distribution of the droplet size in the atomized jet can be independent from the level of experience and behavior of the person actuating the atomizer, and can be adjusted in a reproducible manner. The mean droplet diameter can be smaller than about 50 micrometers. The mass flow of the fluid through the nozzle can be less than about 0.4 g/s. The design and function of the atomizer can be adjusted to properties of the fluid, to a planned application, and to a desired manner for handling the atomizer.

A microstructured mold is produced from a solid body (metal, ceramic, glass, stone or monocrystalline material) by precision mechanical machining, additive or subtractive structuring. The mold insert is filled and covered by a flowable material and the solidified material is separated from the mold insert giving a microstructure element. The microstructure elements produced by the process have good material properties and can be prepared in a broad range of shapes and structures.

A method for manufacturing a microstructured body, comprises irradiating a material with a pattern of X-rays; and dissolving selectively irradiated or non-irradiated regions of the material, where the material comprises a light-hardening and/or UV-hardening epoxy coating. The epoxy coatings need shorter irrdiation times than known plastics. The resulting microstructures can have high aspect ratios, and the developed structures can be produced with greater structure depths, free of defects and faults. Structural precision is in the submicron range.

Patterned dies made of non-conductive resins may be equipped with integrated electrodes in different manners. It is proved to be difficult to produce high-quality electrodes especially in microstructured dies. A patterned plastic die arranged on a carrier plate is filled with a solution of a metal compound. This solution is irradiated through the carrier plate from the back side of the carrier plate using laser light, ultraviolet light or X-rays. The metal compound is transformed in the immediate vicinity of the base of the structure and a metal layer is deposited on the base of the structure forming the electrodes. The method is suitable for a base of the structure forming a coherent or a non-coherent area. Plastic dies containing integrated electrodes are used for electroless or electrophoretic deposition of materials and for electroplating, in all cases starting from the integrated electrodes, and for analytical methods.

A nozzle plate contains nozzles, liquid chambers and connection channels between liquid chambers and supply containers for the liquid. All the function regions are produced integrally as a microstructure body by casting from one or more microstructured mold inserts. The smallest implementable spacing of the nozzles from one another can be considerably smaller than in the previously known plates, which allows increased printing density.

The present invention concerns stepped mould inserts, a method of producing the same and high-precision stepped microstructure bodies moulded therewith. The present stepped mould inserts and method of producing the same are more simple than previous methods. The lithographically produced regions of a patterned resist layer, which are exposed by development on a flat plate, are filled with metal. The layer may be mechanically removed, down to a predetermined thickness. After the residues of the resist have been dissolved out, if necessary or desired, this operation is repeated from one to several times. The regions removed from the resist layer are filled with metal, covered and separated from the resist layer, thus providing a multistep metallic mould insert. High-precision microstructure bodies having a multistep structure are produced with the present stepped mould insert.

A process for removing plastics from microstructures is disclosed. The metallic microstructure is treated with a high-boiling fluid at a temperature above 140.degree. C. for 10 to 90 minutes and subsequently rinsed with water. Suitable fluids include oligomers of ethylene glycol, short-chain diols and dicarboxylic acid esters. Such fluids do not attack the metal and prevent the plastics which are being removed from swelling.
