To overcome problems concerning the sticking of the check plate in a combined check and control valve, a stop is provided on the valve rod or a guide element in the vicinity of the valve rod, whose distance to the limiting element is smaller than the maximum stroke and larger than the nominal stroke of the limiting element. A method and an apparatus are described for the simultaneous adjustment of an air intake stream of an internal combustion engine and of a secondary air stream into the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine, the secondary air stream being produced by a compressor which is driven by a turbine . The turbine is housed in a bypass duct , the bypass duct being arranged parallel to a throttle valve in the air intake tract of the internal combustion engine. Thus the required amount of secondary air is dependent upon the throttle valve setting. To create compensation for this, a control valve , for example, is created, which is connected through a connecting duct to the secondary air duct . The control valve affects the cross section of the bypass line , so that in the event of an opening of the throttle valve the cross section of the bypass duct can be expanded simultaneously, so that the pressure drop at the turbine, produced by throttle valve opening can be compensate. Alternatively the arrangement of a control valve is possible, which is operated by a control unit. Moreover, a mechanical coupling of the throttle means in the bypass line and the throttle valve is possible. The proposed method achieves the simultaneous adjustment of air intake flow and secondary air flow with reasonable design expense and therefore constitutes an economical solution.

Method and device for simultaneous regulation of an intake air flow for an internal combustion engine and a secondary air flow in the exhaust system of the same internal combustion engine

A duct system suitable for use as an intake manifold for an internal combustion engine, including flap valves ( ) for selective opening and closing of the ducts. The positions of the valves are continuously adjustable in order to produce a swirl in the flow of combustion air. To achieve this, a high degree of angular precision is required in the positioning of the valves. Intake manifold manufacturing tolerances need to be compensated during assembly of the valves. A valve adjusting mechanism is provided in mechanical couplings ( ) of the valve linkage between the position adjusting motor ( ) and the flap valves ( ).

The valves should be continuously adjustable in position in order to produce a swirl in the combustion airflow. Secondary air system for an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to an intake pipe for the intake air of an internal combustion engine. The intake pipe comprises a shift drum which provides continuous adjustment of the intake pipe length. The intake pipe comprises a housing constructed of individual disks which are joined in a sealing manner via ring grooves. The shift drum is preferably made of regulator disks so that it can be assembled without difficulty by alternately sliding a housing disk and a regulator disk on to the drive shaft. The intake channels are sealed by means of sealing lips which are joined to the regulator disks, for example by injection, and are axially supported on annular ribs forming part of the housing disks. This makes it possible to compensate for the tolerances of all of the components. Apart form being easier to assemble, an intake pipe constructed in the above manner also has a lower weight since no inserts are required to configure and seal the individual intake channels.
