An apparatus is provided for drawing glass ribbons from molten glass. The apparatus includes a drawing tank for holding the molten glass and a guiding body. The tank has a lower nozzle opening through which the molten glass can exit downwards. The nozzle opening has two nozzle slots defined between the guiding body and edges of the nozzle opening. The guiding body protrudes downward out of the nozzle opening. The guiding body is supported so as to be spaced apart from the edges with the guiding body suspended in a self-supporting manner at least along a central section of the nozzle opening.

Apparatus and method for producing glass ribbons

An apparatus is provided for producing thin glass ribbons from molten glass. The apparatus includes a drawing tank, a direct heater, and an indirect heater. The drawing tank has a lower elongated nozzle opening through which the molten glass can exit downwards. The direct heater has one or more heating circuits operable to heat the drawing tank in a first heating zone. The direct heater has a power source for each on the heating circuits. Each heating circuit has connections to connected to a wall of the drawing tank so that current from the power source flows through at least a portion of the wall and heats the wall. Each heating circuit also includes current-carrying portions of the wall. The indirect heater has one or more heating elements to heat the drawing tank in a second heating zone.

The present disclosure relates to a method for cooling a component of a glass melting plant that contacts a glass melt, the corresponding cooling device, as well as the system of the cooling device and the cooled component itself. The method provides that a pipe with an open pipe end at least on one pipe section is introduced into an open cavity in the component with the formation of a peripheral annular space, and a cooling medium is introduced through the pipe into the cavity and is deflected at the base of the cavity, flows back in the annular space, and flows out of the cavity. In its pipe section introduced into the cavity, the pipe has a constriction and has perforations through the pipe walls in the region of the constriction, whereby the cooling medium is accelerated in its passage through the constriction in the inside of the pipe, and a portion of the cooling medium flowing back from the annular space is aspirated into the inside of the pipe.

Device and method for cooling a component contacting a glass melt

An energy-efficient device for refining a glass melt to produce a glass and/or a glass ceramic is provided. The device includes a refining crucible defined at least by lateral walls with a metallic lining as a melt contact surface, so that a melt refining volume is defined by a base surface, a top surface and a circumferential surface; at least one heating device that conductively heats the lining by an electric current in the lining, so that the melt is heated through the lining, the heating device and the lining are connected to one another by a feeding device. The feeding device establishes contact with the lining so that an electric current runs from the top surface to the base surface or from the base surface to the top surface, at least in sections of the lining.

Energy efficient high-temperature refining

The invention relates to a device for homogenizing a glass melt in a melt receptacle, wherein at least one stirring device is disposed in a melt receptacle, which comprises a stirrer shaft and a plurality of stirrer blades, and wherein a gap () is formed between a wall region of the melt receptacle and the stirrer blades. According to the invention, the respective stirring device causes an axial feed action in an inner stirring region between the stirrer shaft and the stirrer blades in order to feed the melt in the stirring region along the stirrer shaft. A melt flow brought about by the axial feed action seals the gap against direct passage of the melt. According to the invention, a very high gap width can be achieved, thus preventing the abrasion of materials in the region of the marginal gap. This also reduces the complexity required for adjusting the device. According to the invention, a high level of homogenization can be achieved regardless of the entry point of the inhomogeneities.

Method and device for homogenizing glass melt

The device for homogenizing a glass melt has a melt receptacle and at least one stirring device arranged in the melt receptacle. Each stirring device consists of a stirrer shaft and stirrer blades extending toward an inside wall of the receptacle, which are configured to produce an axial feed of the glass melt in an inner stirring region between the stirrer shaft and front ends of the stirrer blades. The melt receptacle and the stirring device are configured so that a melt flow caused by the axial feed, which is opposite to the axial feed, seals a gap formed between the inside wall and the front ends of the stirrer blades, so that the glass melt cannot flow directly through the gap to a lower axial end of the inner stirring region. The invention also encompasses a method of homogenizing a glass melt.

A heating apparatus for the conductive heating of melts, in particular for the rapid melting-down, refining and/or conditioning of melts, is provided. The heating apparatus includes at least one electrode, as well as a first cooling system with a cooling power, which can be set and/or controlled variably.
