Described is a single or multi-layered film having at least one polyamide layer (I) containing dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles. The smallest components of the dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles in layer (I) have an extension of less than 100 nm in at least one randomly selected direction for each component, based on a weighted average of all components of the dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles. Crystalline structures emanating from the surface of the dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles are formed after the layer (I) is cooled from the molten state at a rate of from 10 to 20&deg; C. per minute. The dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles are present in the polyamide layer (I) in an amount of from 10 ppm to 3000 ppm, based on the total weight of layer (I).

Transparent high strength polyamide film

Described is a flexible, multilayered film comprising, (i) an outer layer composed substantially of polyamide containing nanodispersed filing material (e.g., in an amount of from 0.1 and 3 wt. %), and (ii) at least one additional polyamide layer. The multilayered film of the present invention may be produced by flat film or blown film methods. Also described is a method of using the multilayered film of the present invention as a packaging for foodstuff.

Described is a film having at least a single layer and at least one copolyamide layer (I) containing dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles. Crystalline structures extending from the dispersed particle surfaces are formed after the layer (I) is cooled from a molten state at a cooling rate of from 10&deg; C. to 20&deg; C. per minute. The dispersed nanoscale nucleating particles are present in layer (I) in an amount of from 10 ppm to 2000 ppm, based on the total weight of layer (I). Also described is a method of using the film of the present invention in packaging foodstuffs.

A multilayer film having a lamination side and a heat-sealable side is described. The multilayer film comprises, a) an inner layer (i) ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer; b) a coupling agent layer (ii) and a separate coupling agent layer (ii&prime;), said inner layer (i) being interposed between and in contact with each of said coupling agent layer (ii) and said separate coupling agent layer (ii&prime;); c) at least one further layer (iii), said separate coupling agent layer (ii&prime;) being interposed between and in contact with each of said inner layer (i) and said layer (iii); d) at least one layer (iv), said coupling agent layer (ii) being interposed between and in contact with each of said inner layer (i) and said layer (iv); and e) a heat-sealable layer (v), said layer (iv) being interposed between and in contact with each of said coupling agent layer (ii) and said heat-sealable layer (v). Layers (i), (ii), (ii&prime;), (iii) and (v) of the multilayer film contain 0.1 to 3 wt. % of a sorbitan monoester, based on the total weight of said multilayer film. Layer (iii) defines the lamination side of the multilayer film, and the heat-sealable layer (v) defines the heat-sealable side of the multilayer film. Packaging materials comprising the multilayer film are also described.

Described is a heat sealable, multi-layer laminating film composed of at least six layers of thermoplastic polymers. The multi-layer laminating film has an inner layer of ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH). The present invention relates to a heat sealable, unoriented multi-layer film consisting of a sequence of layers (I) comprising one or more plies on the outer side of the film, a sequence of layers (II) also comprising at least one ply, denoted the heat sealable layer, on the other outer side of the film, optionally together with a coupling sequence of layers (III), also of one or more plies, between the sequences of layers (I) and (II), wherein the multi-layer film is characterized in that the sequence of layers (I) contains at least one layer (i) of a linear alternating copolymer (1) of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated olefin, optionally together with one or more layers (ii) containing polyamide, characterised in that the ratio between the thicknesses of the sequence of layers (I) and the total multi-layer film is no greater than 0.6 and no less than 0.15, that the total thickness of the multi-layer film is no less than 50 and no more than 300 &mgr;m, and that at least one melting point, determined using the DSC method to ASTM 3418, of one of the polymeric components present in the sequence of layers (II) is at least 50&deg; C. lower than at least one melting point, determined using the DSC method to ASTM 3418, of one of the polymers present in the sequence of layers (I).
