A device for the hydraulic positioning of structural component parts, in particular rollers of strand guide segments of a continuous casting installation, with hydraulic cylinders, each of which is divided into a cylinder space and an annular cylinder space by a piston having a piston rod. The cylinder spaces can be connected to a pressure source by of control members. Hydraulic connection lines are reduced or components used are reduced. Either the annular cylinder space is acted upon by a pressure which is adjustable but which then remains constant, while the pressure applied to the piston in the cylinder space is position-controlled or pressure-controlled, or the cylinder space is acted upon by a pressure which is adjustable but which then remains constant, while the pressure applied to the piston in the annular cylinder space is position-controlled or pressure-controlled.

A method for the continuous casting of thin metal strip in a continuous casting installation, in which metal is discharged vertically downward from a mold, the metal strip is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction, and the metal strip is supported and/or conveyed and/or plastically deformed by a number of pairs of drive rolls. At least one pair of drive rolls plastically deforms the metal strip without significantly changing the mean thickness of the metal strip, namely with a change in the mean thickness of the metal strip of less than 5%, such that the deformation in the pairs of drive rolls produces material flow exclusively in the direction transverse to the direction of conveyance of the metal strip.

Method for the continuous casting of thin metal strip and continuous casting installation

A method and device for driving the support rolls of a continuous casting machine for liquid metals, which support rolls form a strand guide for the continuously cast strand. The strand guide includes electrically driven individual support rolls and/or hydraulically adjustable support roll segments. An automatic load balance control system for the drives is used as the sum of the individual forces for casting speed, motor torque, motor speed, and standard correction factors and is provided with individual adjustment of torque and speed of each drive support roll motor. A total driving torque for all drives is determined from the normal force of the driven drive support rolls and proportionately transmitted to each support roll in such a way that a static base setting of the torque distribution is used as the basis for the specific load capacity of each drive support roll.

Method and device for driving support rollers on a continuous casting machine for molten metals in particular for molten steel materials

In a method for changing a billet section of a continuous billet casting device from an initial section to a final section, the opposed billet sides interact with oppositely positioned roll supports of a billet guide arranged below a continuous casting die. The roll supports have segments with rolls, and each segment is individually adjustable with respect to its angular position relative to the billet. A controlled sequence of adjusting steps of the segments successively arranged in a direction of continuous casting is carried out, wherein, for reducing the section of the billet, the segments are advanced successively toward the billet in the continuous casting direction and, and for increasing the section of the billet, the segments are moved successively away from the billet in the continuous casting direction.

Method for change of section of a billet below a casting die of a continuous casting plant

A mold for the continuous casting of metal includes a pouring portion with cooled long side walls and short side walls, wherein the pouring portion becomes narrower in the shape of a funnel in the casting direction until it reaches the size of the cast strand. In the funnel portion, the inner contours of the long side walls have in the casting direction from the top toward the bottom at least two points which have the property that they determine a straight line along which the inner contours of the long side walls are formed with at least one concave section and with at least one convex section in any selected sequence.
