A display device includes a first display panel, a second display panel, and an optical member. The first display panel includes a first substrate and a first cover member on the first substrate. The second display panel is coupled to a first side of the first display panel, and includes a second substrate and a second cover member on the second substrate. The optical member is in a groove defined by the first and second cover members at a boundary of the first and second display panels.

A tile display device includes element display devices, each including an element display panel which defines a display area and a panel driver disposed on a seam area surrounding the display area, and a coupling display device disposed on element display devices and coupled to the element display devices at neighboring seam areas. The coupling display device includes a boundary display panel on the neighboring seam areas, a coupler which couples the boundary display panel to the element display panels to provide a coupling panel structure, a boundary driver which drives the boundary display panel and a signal control center which drives the coupling panel structure.

Curved display device including alignment layer and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display is provided. The liquid crystal display includes a pair of substrates; and a pixel electrode and a common electrode provided on the pair of substrates and facing each other. The pixel electrode includes: a cross pattern at a center thereof; a plate electrode surrounding the cross pattern; and a plurality of minute branch electrodes extending in a diagonal direction outward from the plate electrode. A partial extension structure of the plate electrode is formed in at least a partial boundary region located between the plate electrode and the plurality of minute branch electrodes.

Provided is a liquid-crystal display (LCD) device. The LCD device includes: one pair of substrates; and a pixel electrode and a common electrode that are provided on the one pair of substrates to respectively face each other, wherein the pixel electrode includes: one pair of plate electrodes in which a horizontal slit and a plurality of first vertical slits that cross the horizontal slit are formed and that are divided by the horizontal slit and surround both sides of a cross pattern formed by the horizontal slit and the plurality of first vertical slits; and a plurality of fine branch electrodes that are obliquely formed to be connected to the plate electrode at a portion of the cross pattern including a point at which the horizontal slit and the first vertical slit cross each other, wherein one pixel region includes a first subpixel area and a second subpixel area that are divided by the horizontal slit.

Liquid-crystal display having slits in electrodes to increase aperture ratio and improve transmittance

A display device includes a first substrate, a first alignment layer disposed on the first substrate, a second substrate, a second alignment layer disposed on the second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second alignment layers and having liquid crystal molecules. At least one of the first and second alignment layers includes an initial alignment layer and a pretilting layer including a self-assembled monolayer disposed on the initial alignment layer.

Display device and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display including a first substrate, a second substrate, and liquid crystal molecules disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate includes a first base substrate and a common electrode disposed on the first base substrate. The second substrate includes a second base substrate facing the first base substrate and a first pixel electrode disposed on the second base substrate. The first pixel electrode includes a first area and a second area which form different electric fields in cooperation with the common electrode. Accordingly, the liquid crystal display enhances an aperture ratio and increases a side viewing angle.
