A developing device includes a conveying member to circulate a developer in a housing, a developer discharge portion extending from one end portion of the housing to form a passage through which surplus developer is discharged from the housing, and a discharge regulation member located on an upstream side of the developer discharge portion with respect to a direction in which the developer is conveyed to the developer discharge portion by the conveying member to partially block a conveying path of the developer. The discharge regulation member includes a lower end portion and an upper end portion arranged apart from a bottom and an upper wall of the conveying path, respectively.

An example developing device includes a developing case, a developer supply portion connected to the developing case and including a supply port, a shutter to open or close the supply port, and a sealing member attached to an outer circumferential portion of the developer supply portion to prevent leakage of a developer through the developer supply portion and the shutter. The developer supply portion includes a slit portion adjacent to the supply port. The sealing member includes a film member having an opening in communication with the supply port, a fixing portion inserted into the slit portion, and an elastic sealing member. An upper surface of the film member contacts an inner circumferential portion of the shutter, and the elastic sealing member is attached onto a lower surface of the film member along an edge of the opening and surrounds the supply port.

An example image forming apparatus includes a main body having a guide frame to guide a toner cartridge on a path for detachment and attachment, a sensor to sense a remaining toner level of the toner cartridge, and a shutter member disposed to move along the guide frame in association with the attachment and detachment of the toner cartridge. In response to separation of the toner cartridge from the guide frame, the shutter member is movable to a first position covering the sensor and, in response to the toner cartridge being mounted on the guide frame, the shutter member is movable to a second position to open the sensor.

The developer housing includes a developing chamber to have a developing roller in the developing chamber and extending in a longitudinal direction of the developing roller, an agitating chamber located parallel to the developing chamber, and a partition wall to separate the developing chamber from the agitating chamber, the partition wall having a first communication hole and a second communication hole respectively formed at both end portions of the partition wall in the longitudinal direction, through which the developing chamber and the agitating chamber are to communicate through. A developer inlet, through which the developer is injectable into the developer housing, for the developer housing to receive the developer, is formed in the developer housing at a position corresponding to the first communication hole or the second communication hole. The developer inlet is closeable with a cap.
