A file server device is provided which has less chance of error in changing directory settings information. A file server device that has access to a client computer and a disk array device receives a directory settings file, and writes the directory settings file in a specified shared directory. The file server device chooses, as a migration destination candidate, a volume whose settings information matches new settings information of the shared directory which is set as specified in the directory settings file. The file server device migrates information in the shared directory whose settings information is changed to the volume chosen as a migration destination candidate.

On the basis of a priority table in which a plurality of group restoration priorities respectively corresponding to a plurality of element groups are recorded, the priority-based backup part backs up all of the backup object elements belonging to a first element group in a first continuous region which is a continuous recording region on a tape recording medium, and backs up all of the backup object elements belonging to a second element group whose group restoration priority is lower than that of said first element group in a second continuous region which is located on the tape tail end side of said first continuous region.

It is an object of the present invention to allow easy upgrading of the version of the OS in a failover cluster system. When the user mounts a storage mediumon the node, and gives instructions to install a program, the installation programrequests the failover programfor the stopping of heartbeat communications. The nodevoluntarily stops heartbeat communications in a state in which the system of this node is operating normally. When the failover programof the nodedetects the stopping of heartbeat communications, this program starts failover, and takes over the business service of the node. During the execution of failover by the node, the program stored in the storage mediumis installed in the node. When this installation is completed, the nodetransmits a failback request to the node, and restarts the business service.
