The components of the systems can include wearable advertising devices (WAD) that emit BLE signals, repeaters and/or gateways for receiving and relaying the BLE signals over a BLE Mesh network to a remote server. IR codes can be included to detect the presence of a WAD before the WAD is energized to emit a BLE signal.

System and method for tracking locations and activities

Communication accessories, such as keyfobs (KFs) and/or transmitter/receiver dongles, which can transmit and receive signals to enable connectivity between owners of different portable devices even when the devices are off or when in a sleep mode, are described. In some examples, the keyfobs and/or the dongles are programmed with connectivity tokens, such as being programmed with Facebook (FB) information, FB accounts or FBIDs, LinkedIn ID, or generically social network user information, that can be used to authenticate different smart portable devices belonging to different users to facilitate networking. Once the keyfobs and/or dongles are authenticated, they will buzz, sound, or otherwise alert their respective owners that one or more social network users, such as a FB user or a LinkedIn user, are within the general vicinity and that further actions through smart portable devices may be needed to connect the users.

Keys and sensors for daily consumer activities

A television on a chip (TVOC) system that provides a cost effective approach for providing television functionality on a single integrated circuit chip is disclosed. A TVOC includes the functionality necessary to receive and display television signals in a variety of input and output formats. A TVOC can be used in set-top boxes for cable and satellite television, or directly within a television. All functionality provided can be provided on a single integrated circuit. TVOC includes a data transport module, an IF demodulator, a digital audio engine, an analog audio engine, a digital video engine, and an analog video engine. The TVOC also includes three sets of interfaces including output interfaces, control interfaces and ancillary interfaces. Further features and embodiments provide enhanced functionality and increased efficiencies.

Television functionality on a chip

Methods and systems for sample rate conversion convert a sampled signal to a higher data rate signal. Conversion pulses are received, having a conversion rate that is higher than the sample rate of the sampled signal. Sample points are then reconstructed from the sampled signal, in real time, on either side of a conversion pulse. An interpolation is performed between the reconstructed sample points, at the time of the conversion pulse. The interpolation results are outputted in real time. The process is repeated for additional conversion pulses. The outputted interpolated amplitudes form the higher data rate signal having a data rate equal to the conversion rate. Sample rate conversion is thus performed in real time according to the higher data rate clock, rather than with fixed ratios. As a result, when the higher data rate clock is affected by, for example, jitter or other frequency variations, the higher data rate samples immediately track the lower data rate samples. This helps to insure that the output higher data rate data tracks the lower rate data, thus providing a more accurate sample rate conversion.

Methods and systems for sample rate conversion

A system and method are disclosed for performing digital multi-channel decoding of a BTSC composite audio signal. Each subsequent stage of the digital multi-channel decoding process is performed at the lowest sampling rate that yields acceptable performance for that stage. Analog-to-digital conversion of the composite audio signal is performed first to generate a composite digital audio signal. After analog-to-digital conversion, all signal processing may be performed in the digital domain. The composite digital audio signal is digitally filtered to frequency compensate for variations caused by previous stages of processing, including IF demodulation. Digital channel demodulation and filtering are performed to isolate single channels of the composite digital audio signal such as SAP, L&#x2212;R, and L+R channels. SAP and L&#x2212;R channels are DBX decoded resulting in corresponding decoded signals using a unique combination of digital filters that are an efficient translation of a corresponding combination of analog filters.

System and method of performing digital multi-channel audio signal decoding

Aspects of the method and system for rejecting single sided leakage into an amplitude modulated channel may comprise an AM demodulator for demodulating a received composite broadcast signal's control channel to generate an amplitude modulated (AM) component. A PM demodulator may demodulate a received composite broadcast signal's control channel to generate a phase modulated (PM) component. At least one subtractor may subtract an AM leakage component and a PM leakage component contributed by the single sided leakage in the received composite broadcast signal's control channel. The system may comprise at least one of each of AM and PM bandpass filters and envelope detectors that filter and detect envelopes of the AM and PM components at 982.5 Hz and 922.5 Hz.

Method and system for rejecting single-sided leakage into an amplitude modulated (AM) channel

A Japanese BTSC audio broadcast signal has three modes of transmission: mono, stereo, or dual mono. The control channel centering at 3.5 fH is one of the three channels in the J-BTSC signal, and contains information to indicate to the decoder which one of the three modes the audio transmission is in. The present invention uses a bandpass filter directly in the AM band, followed by envelope filtering and a decision circuit. Therefore, the need for AM demodulation and AM carrier detection is eliminated.

Method and system for detecting signal modes in a broadcast audio transmission

A system and method are disclosed for performing digital multi-channel decoding of a BTSC composite audio signal. Analog-to-digital conversion is performed on a composite analog audio signal at a fast clock rate to generate a composite digital audio signal at a first sample rate. Digital frequency compensation is performed on the composite digital audio signal at the first sample rate to generate a compensated composite audio signal. Digital channel demodulation and filtering are performed on the compensated composite audio signal at the first sample rate to generate a first single channel audio signal at a second sample rate.

A method and apparatus for manipulating digitized images stored as variable length encoded bitstreams such as JPEG format in a manner that reduces memory and processor resource requirements. A prescan means sequentially decompresses the bitstream to identify the location of encoded pixel image areas. Designated ones of these locations are recorded or stored in a prescan table. After the prescan operation has been performed on the image, image manipulations such as rotating, cropping, and zooming can be performed on a selected portion of the image by directly accessing only the encoded pixel image areas to be manipulated, without the need to sequentially decode and store all the encoded image areas in order to locate the ones of interest.

Method and apparatus for processing image files

A color copier machine includes a conventional image scanner for scanning successive swaths of an original document into an image memory and a conventional high quality four-color inkjet printing mechanism for printing each swath as an array of pixels each covered with up to two types of ink (black, or one primary color, or a secondary color combining two primary colors) and an optional color overprint mode in which the blackest pixels may be covered with op to three types of ink (black and one color or three colors). The processing time for the error diffusion and color overprint algorithms is reduced to a minimum time associated with the required number of memory access cycles; to that end, the required memory access and computational operations are organized as pipelined sequences in which multiple computations are performed on previously accessed data while other data from prior computations are being stored in a remote storage or while data required for future computations are being retrieved from the remote storage. A table lookup operation is used to randomize four correction ratios for each pixel; the retrieved 8-bit correction ratio is multiplied by a 10-bit signal representing the remaining error, thereby using one byte read operation (rather than two byte read operations) to obtain a 10-bit accumulated error. The individual pixels are processed in sequential fashion from left to right of the page, one row at a time, with local registers storing the accumulated error for the current pixel and a temporary accumulated error for the four not yet fully processed adjacent pixels in the current row and the next row.

Optimally pipelined error diffusion architecture for converting scanned

The first copy is printed while the scanner is scanning, with each 8-bit pixel in the scanned image being printed and stored as a 1-bit (on or off) pixel (in the half-tone image. Print time for subsequent copies is less than that required for scanning/printing the first copy because in at least the black-only printing mode of a typical inkjet printer, the time required to scan and process a single swath is more than the time required to print that swath.
