A method, computer program product, and a system where a processor(s), in a computing environment comprised of multiple containers comprising modules, includes a processor(s) continuously obtaining pressure data from pressure sensors embedded in electrostatic dissipative (ESD) footwear. The processor(s) determines that the obtained pressure data indicates a pressure level of a pre-determined threshold and the given threshold is sustained for a pre-determined interval of time in some of the items. The processor(s) accesses one or more voltage sensors embedded in each item of the items and obtains voltage data by utilizing an ESD floor that the items are in contact with as a ground reference. The processor(s) validates functionality of some of the items and functionality of the ESD floor, based on monitoring the voltage data from the one or more voltage sensors.

Electrostatic discharge shoe and surface evaluation

Embodiments of the present disclosure related to automated static control. A set of static sensor data may be obtained from two or more static sensors. The set of static sensor data may be analyzed to determine whether a static condition exists. In response to a determination that a static condition exists, a set of mobile static unit data may be collected from one or more mobile static units. The set of mobile static unit data may be analyzed to select a mobile static unit of the one or more mobile static units. An action may be transmitted to the selected mobile static unit, and the selected mobile static unit may be deployed to mitigate the static condition.

Automated static control

In an approach for providing simulation results of an interaction between a transducer head and a magnetic medium, a computer identifies a first raster scan of a sample via a scanning probe microscope. The computer generates a topography image based on the first raster scan of the sample. The computer identifies one or more reference features within the created topography image. The computer calculates an average height based on the one or more reference features. The computer determines a lift distance associated with a probe of the scanning probe microscope. The computer defines a uniform plane based on the calculated average height and the determined lift distance. The computer performs a second raster scan of the sample based on the defined uniform plane. The computer generates a fly-height image based on the second raster scan. The computer provides simulation results based at least in part on the second raster scan.

Automated control of visual light transmission through one or more vehicle windows is provided, which includes providing a control system for controlling visual light transmission through the window, where the window includes smart glass, with visual light transmission through the window being dynamically adjustable by the control system. The control system receives a video stream from at least one video camera associated with the vehicle, and analyzes the video stream for a specified event. Based on detecting the event, the control system triggers an action to adjust the visual light transmission through the window.

Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for identifying and quantifying waste in a process. Waste information is input via images and/or natural language. The amount of waste is estimated based on information in images and/or a natural language description. A computer-implemented technique extracts metadata on waste products from the images and/or natural language description. A variety of factors such as social media trends, weather, traffic, and/or sports schedules are evaluated by the computer and used in predicting the amount of waste that will occur.

Waste analysis system and method

A system includes a processor and logic integrated with the processor, executable by the processor, or integrated with and executable by the processor, the logic being configured to gather usage data of a tape drive during usage thereof and create and/or update a usage model based on the usage data. The logic is configured to determine that the usage model has reached a predefined confidence level and perform an action for extending a life of the tape drive in response to determining that the usage model has reached the predefined confidence level.

A method includes gathering usage data of a tape drive during usage thereof and creating and/or updating a usage model based on the usage data. The method includes determining that the usage model has reached a predefined confidence level and performing an action in response to determining that the usage model has reached the predefined confidence level. A computer program product for increasing the life of tape drives includes a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith. The computer program product includes program instructions executable by a computer. The program instructions cause the computer to perform the foregoing method.

A computer-implemented method for detecting sensor-damaging tape media, according to one embodiment, includes acquiring a metric for at least one sensor of a tape drive after performing an operation on a magnetic recording tape, and comparing the metric for the at least one sensor after performing the operation to a metric for the at least one sensor acquired before performing the operation. An action is taken in response to a result of the comparing indicating that a difference between the metrics is in a predetermined range. A product, according to one embodiment, includes a magnetic recording tape, and a memory coupled to the magnetic recording tape. At least one value is stored in the memory, the at least one value being indicative of whether the magnetic recording tape is potentially sensor-damaging.
