The on-channel repeater includes: a receiving means for receiving a Radio Frequency (RF) signal; a subtracting means for subtracting a replica of feedback signals from the signal received by the receiving means; a replica generating means for calculating the replica based on the signal acquired from the subtraction in the subtracting means and feeding back the replica to the subtracting means; an inverse channel estimating means for estimating inverse of a reception channel based on the signal acquired from the subtraction in the subtracting means and generating filter tab coefficients; a first adaptive filtering means for compensating for channel distortion of the signal subtracted by the subtracting means based on the filter tab coefficients generated in the inverse channel estimating means; and a transmitting means for converting a signal whose channel distortion is compensated by the first adaptive filtering means into an RF signal and performing radio transmission.

Provided is an apparatus and method for analyzing identification (ID) signals by converting radio frequency (RF) signals which are transmitted with an ID signal added thereto by a transmitting part, e.g., a plurality of transmitters or repeaters, into signals of a desired band; creating ID signals that are identical to the ID signals added to the RF signals; calculating correlation values between the converted signals and the created ID signals based on partial correlation; and extracting channel profile of multi-path signals caused by a channel between the transmitting part and the ID signal analyzing apparatus from the correlation value. The technology of the present research is applied to broadcasting and communication.

Provided is an identification signal analyzing apparatus and method for compensating power of a channel profile occurring at a conventional identification signal analyzing apparatus by using a power compensation. The apparatus for improving a performance of a pre-equalizer in a transmitter of a digital broadcasting system having a feedback path for adaptively generating a filter coefficient of the pre-equalizer, includes a reference signal generator for generating a reference radio frequency (RF) signal, a feedback path estimator for estimating transmission band characteristic information for the feedback path based on the reference RF signal generated from the reference signal generator, and a feedback path compensator for compensating a demodulated signal transferred through the feedback path based on the estimated transmission band characteristic information from the feedback path estimator and generating a filter coefficient of the pre-equalizer.

An object of the present invention is to provide a modulating apparatus of an on-channel repeater for reducing time delay by configuring and up-sampling a baseband signal, filtering the up-sampled baseband signal with an Equi-Ripple (ER) filter or in a window method, and converting the filtered baseband signal into an RF signal. Provided are an on-channel repeater and a method thereof. The on-channel repeater can extract reception channel information from signals transmitted from a main transmitter or another repeater, compensate for channel distortion caused on a transmission channel by inversely reflecting the extracted reception channel information to the received signals, and transmit the channel-distortion compensated signals through the same channel as a reception channel, and a method thereof. The on-channel repeater includes: a receiver for receiving RF signals transmitted from outside; a down-converter for down-converting the received RF signals into signals of a desired band; a channel-estimator for estimating an inverse value of a reception channel based on the down-converted signals; an adaptation filter for compensating for channel distortion by using a filter having the inverse value of the estimated reception channel; an up-converter for up-converting the channel distortion-compensated signals into RF signals; and a transmitter for transmitting the up-converted RF signals.

A repeater and method for an ATSC terrestrial digital TV broadcasting service. The on-channel repeater includes: a receiving unit for receiving a Radio Frequency (RF) broadcast signal from a main transmitter; a frequency downlink converting unit for converting the received RF broadcast signal into an intermediate frequency (IF) signal; a demodulating unit for converting the converted IF signal into a baseband signal; an equalizing unit for removing noise and multi-path signals generated from the converted baseband signal; a modulating unit for converting the baseband signal into an IF signal; a frequency uplink converting unit for converting the IF signal into a RF broadcast signal; a high power amplifying unit for amplifying and repeating the converted RF broadcast signal; a transmitting unit for transmitting the RF broadcast signal outputted from the high power amplifying unit; and a signal synchronizing unit for generating the first reference frequency, and generating the second reference frequency based on the first reference frequency such that the transmission/reception signal are frequency-and-phase synchronized.

On-channel repeating apparatus and method for terrestrial digital television broadcasting service

Provided is a frequency synchronizing apparatus and method that can synchronize frequencies between receiving signals and transmitting signals by extracting a carrier error and sampling timing error information in a synchronization process of the receiving signal from a main transmitter or another repeater and reflecting them in the transmitting signal in an on-channel repeater. The apparatus includes a carrier recovery means for compensating a carrier frequency error of a receiving signal; a timing recovery means for compensating a sampling timing error of the receiving signal; a carrier error reflecting means for reflecting the carrier frequency error extracted from the carrier recovery means to a transmitting signal; and a timing error reflecting means for reflecting the sampling timing error extracted from the timing recovery means to the transmitting signal. The present invention is used to form an on-channel repeating network in any transmission system including a digital television broadcasting system.
