A non-aqueous electrolyte includes (i) an inhibitor against a reaction between an anode and a linear ester; (ii) a mixed organic solvent containing cyclic carbonate and the linear ester; and (iii) an electrolyte salt, wherein the inhibitor is any one compound or a mixture of at least two compounds selected from the group consisting of cyclic carbonate with a vinyl group, fluorinated ethylene carbonate, vinylene carbonate, cyclic acid anhydride, a compound having a cyclic S&#x2550;O group and an acrylate-based compound. Also, an electrochemical device includes a cathode, an anode and the above non-aqueous electrolyte.

Non-aqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery

Disclosed is an electrode comprising a coating layer formed partially or totally on a surface thereof, the coating layer comprising: (i) a reduced form of a first acrylate compound having one or two acryl groups; and (ii) a reduced form of a second acrylate compound having three or more acryl groups. The gel polymer electrolyte secondary battery includes a cathode, an anode, a separator and a gel polymer electrolyte in a battery case. The method includes (S1) coating a polymerization initiator on a surface of at least one selected from a group consisting of a cathode, an anode, a separator of a non-woven fabric, and a battery case, the surface needed to be contacted with a gel polymer electrolyte; (S2) putting an electrode assembly including the cathode, the anode, the separator of a non-woven fabric into the battery case; and (S3) forming a gel polymer electrolyte by introducing a gel polymer electrolyte composition including an electrolyte solvent, an electrolyte salt and a polymer electrolyte monomer into the battery case, and polymerizing the monomer.

Method of preparing gel polymer electrolyte secondary battery and gel polymer electrolyte secondary battery

Disclosed is an electrolyte for a secondary battery comprising an electrolyte salt and an electrolyte solvent, the electrolyte further comprising both a lactam-based compound and a sulfinyl group-containing compound. A system for estimating long term characteristics of a battery includes a learning data input unit for receiving initial characteristic learning data and long term characteristic learning data of a battery to be a learning object; a measurement data input unit for receiving initial characteristic measurement data of a battery to be an object for estimation of long term characteristics; and an artificial neural network operation unit for receiving the initial characteristic learning data and the long term characteristic learning data from the learning data input unit to allow learning of an artificial neural network, receiving the initial characteristic measurement data from the measurement data input unit and applying the learned artificial neural network thereto, and thus calculating long term characteristic estimation data from the initial characteristic measurement data of the battery and outputting the long term characteristic estimation data.

System and method for estimating long term characteristics of battery

A lithium secondary battery has an anode, a cathode, a separator between the anode and the cathode and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The non-aqueous electrolyte includes a lithium salt; and a non-linear carbonate-based mixed organic solvent in which (a) a cyclic carbonate compound, and (b) a propionate-based compound are mixed at a volume ratio (a:b) in the range from about 10:90 to about 70:30. The cathode has a capacity density in the range from about 3.5 to about 5.5 mAh/cmand a porosity in the range from about 18 to about 35%. This battery may be manufactured as a high-loading lithium secondary battery.

A cylindrical lithium secondary battery includes an anode and a cathode, capable of occluding or emitting lithium ions; a non-aqueous electrolyte; and a CID (Current Interrupt Device) for intercepting electric current and lowering inner pressure when the inner pressure of the secondary battery is increased. The cylindrical lithium secondary battery may ensure the safety of the battery with respect to overcharging and also at the same time prevent the problem wherein the CID is activated too early, such that the battery stops its operation when the battery is used in a high-temperature environment.

A lithium secondary battery comprises an anode capable of intercalating or disintercalating lithium ions, a cathode configured with a lithium-containing oxide, and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution. The lithium-containing oxide comprises a lithium nickel based oxide. The nonaqueous electrolyte solution comprises vinyl ethylene carbonate (VEC) and a mono-nitrile compound. This lithium secondary battery solves the deterioration of charge/discharge cycle characteristics caused by a lithium nickel based oxide used for a cathode, and also controls the decomposition reaction of electrolyte to solve the swelling phenomenon even though the battery is stored at a high temperature or charged/discharged in a fully-charged state, thereby improving high-temperature life characteristics.

Nonaqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery

A pouch-type lithium secondary battery includes an electrode assembly having an anode made of carbon material capable of occluding or emitting lithium ions, a cathode made of lithium-containing oxide, and a separator interposed between the cathode and the anode for electrical insulation therebetween; a pouch-type case made of sheet to provide a space receiving the electrode assembly; and a non-aqueous electrolyte injected into the electrode assembly. The non-aqueous electrolyte is a non-linear carbonate-based non-aqueous electrolyte including a lithium salt, (a) a cyclic carbonate compound, and (b) a linear ester compound selected from propionate-based compound, methyl butyrate, and propyl acetate, or their mixtures. During LiPFIM dissolution, the non-aqueous electrolyte has an ion conductivity of 9 mS/cm or above at about 23&#xb0; C. This pouch-type lithium secondary battery ensures excellent high-rate discharging characteristics and solves swelling problems associated with a pouch-type lithium secondary battery.

Pouch-type lithium secondary battery

A non-aqueous electrolyte includes (i) a cyclic anhydride; (ii) an electrolyte solvent containing carbonate and linear saturated ester; and (iii) an electrolyte salt. Since the linear saturated ester and cyclic anhydride are used in mixture as components of an electrolyte, it is possible to minimize problems caused by using either of the linear saturated ester or cyclic anhydride and to improve life cycle performance of the secondary battery and charging/discharging characteristics at room temperature or a high temperature.
