Various novel concepts and schemes pertaining to non-orthogonal multiple access for wireless communications are described. A group orthogonal coded access (GOCA) scheme is introduced to reduce multi-user interference (MUI) and improve performance. A repetition division multiple access (RDMA) scheme is introduced to differentiate user equipment (UEs) by different repetition patterns. A low-density spreading (LDS) scheme is introduced to reduce MUI and improve performance.

Non-orthogonal multiple access wireless communications methods and apparatus thereof

Methods and apparatuses pertaining to uplink power consumption reduction for a Narrow Band-Internet of Things (NB-IoT) apparatus. The NB-IoT apparatus may transmit uplink data to a network apparatus via an uplink channel. The network apparatus may decode the uplink data. The network apparatus may further transmit an acknowledgement (ACK) indicator to the NB-IoT apparatus before receiving all the uplink data if the uplink data is decoded successfully. The NB-IoT apparatus may monitor whether an ACK indicator is received from the network apparatus during a transmission gap of the uplink channel. The NB-IoT apparatus may further terminate uplink data transmission if the ACK indicator is received.

Method and apparatus for uplink power consumption reduction in NB-IoT

One communication system includes a first die, a second die and a front-end circuit. The first die has an up-converter and a digital baseband (DBB) processing circuit. The second die has a down-converter. The front-end circuit couples an antenna to the first and second dies. Another exemplary communication system includes a first die, a second die and a front-end circuit. The first die performs digital baseband (DBB) processing, and generates a first signal with a higher frequency according to a second signal, wherein the second signal is derived from an output signal of the DBB processing. The second die generates a third signal with a lower frequency according to a fourth signal. The front-end circuit couples the first signal from the first die to an antenna and couples the fourth signal from the antenna to the second die.

A radio frequency (RF) transmitter including at least one digital signal processing module is described. The at least one digital signal processing module is arranged to receive a complex digital input signal, successively apply pre-distortion to the received complex digital input signal with a progressively finer granularity, simultaneously progressively increase a sampling rate of the received complex digital input signal, and output a first, in-phase digital control word and a second, quadrature, digital control word for controlling at least one digital power amplifier component to generate an RF signal representative of the received complex digital input signal.

A wireless transmitter has a digital baseband module and a radio-frequency (RF) transmitter. The digital baseband module generates a multi-mode modulated signal by using a plurality of digital synthesizers. The RF transmitter has a frequency synthesizer and a digital power amplifier (DPA). The frequency synthesizer generates an oscillation signal with an RF carrier frequency. The DPA generates a multi-standard RF signal according to the multi-mode modulated signal and the oscillation signal.

Wireless transmitter for multi-mode concurrent transmission of signals complying with different communication standards

A method for detecting a transmission collision between a first wireless communication terminal and a second wireless communication terminal includes the following steps: when one retry packet transmitted from the first wireless communication terminal is received by the second wireless communication terminal, checking if at least one transmission collision condition is met and accordingly generating a checking result; deriving statistic data from a plurality of checking results generated in response to a plurality of retry packets transmitted from the first wireless communication terminal; and detecting the transmission collision between the first wireless communication terminal and the second wireless communication terminal according to the statistic data.

Methods and apparatuses for detecting transmission collision and/or alleviating transmission collision

The invention provides a method for frequency offset estimation according to a filtered signal with destroyed phase information. In one embodiment, a filter filters an original signal according to a series of first filter coefficients to obtain a first-channel component of the filtered signal, and filters the original signal according to a series of second filter coefficients to obtain a second-channel component of the filtered signal. A series of third filter coefficients are first derived from the first filter coefficients. The original signal is then filtered according to the third filter coefficients to obtain a reference signal. A first frequency offset value is estimated according to the first-channel component of the filtered signal and the reference signal, wherein the first-channel component of the filtered signal is a first-channel component of an artificial signal, and the reference signal is a second-channel component of the artificial signal.

The data segmentation module divides the input data into a plurality of subdata. The quality measure module, coupled to the data segmentation module, calculates signal quality of each subdata. The scaling module, coupled to the quality measure module, scales each subdata according to corresponding signal quality.

Method of scaling input data and mobile device utilizing the same

An apparatus for frequency synchronization is proposed to detect a synchronization signal from the baseband signals. It is featured that three types of detection values are introduced to detect whether the synchronization signal is received or not. More particularly, the claimed frequency synchronization apparatus provides at least one signal power generator for receiving a predetermined number of symbols of the baseband signals, and further calculating an average quality value therefore. Further, the apparatus includes a signal selector for producing a first detection value according to the average quality value. Still further, the apparatus provides a decision unit to produce a second detection value. After that, a signal processor inside the decision unit is used to calculate a third detection value as combining the first detection value and the second detection. Consequently, the decision unit particularly decides whether the synchronization signal is received or not in reference with the third detection value.

Frequency synchronization apparatus

A signal converter. The signal converter converts an analog inphase signal and an analog quadrature phase signal into a digital baseband inphase signal and a digital baseband quadrature phase signal. The analog inphase signal and the analog quadrature phase signal are orthogonal to each other and are carried in a predetermined intermediate frequency. The digital baseband inphase signal and the digital baseband quadrature phase signal are carried in zero frequency. The signal converter comprises a signal combiner combining the analog inphase signal and the analog quadrature phase signal to obtain an analog combined signal, an analog to digital converter converting the analog combined signal to a digital combined signal, and a signal separator separating the digital combined signal to obtain the digital baseband inphase signal and the digital baseband quadrature phase signal.

Signal converters

The invention provides an electronic device for acquisition of a dummy paging message. In an embodiment, the electronic device comprises a dummy pattern generator, a receiver, and a paging channel handler. The dummy pattern generator provides a first artificial pattern according to a previously received result corresponding to a dummy paging message. The receiver receives a first burst for a paging message. The paging channel handler controls the receiver to recover a first data content for the paging message according to the first burst and the first artificial pattern, determines whether the first data content represents a dummy paging message, and directs the receiver not to activate to receive remaining bursts for the paging message when the first data content represents a dummy paging message. The dummy paging message is employed for synchronization between a mobile station comprising the electronic device, and a serving base station.

A mobile communication device and a data reception method implemented thereby are provided. An antenna receives a signal, and an inner receiver demodulates the received signal to generate an equalizer output. A channel decoder is coupled to the inner receiver, decoding the equalizer output to generate a data sequence. A quality estimator estimates signal quality of the received signal to generate a quality value. An error checker selectively performs cyclic redundancy code (CRC) check or CRC correction on the data sequence according to the quality value.

Mobile communication device and data reception method

A synchronization circuit includes a correlator, an energy calculator, a post-processing unit, and a decision device. The correlator correlates a received sequence r(t) with a local sequence c(i) to obtain a correlation result h(t). The energy calculator calculates an energy function of the correlation result h(t), and filters the energy function of the correlation result by a channel impulse response w(l) to obtain a filtered energy function e(t), where l is the index of the channel impulse response. The post-processing unit applies weighting function w(t) to the filtered energy e(t) to obtain a weighted energy function e'(t), wherein the weighting function w(t) weights a central portion of the filtered energy function e(t). The decision device selects a maximum energy value from the weighted energy function e&#x2032;(t), and the time index t with maximum energy value is the time shift of the received sequence and the local sequence.
