The present invention relates to methods that use novel biomarkers for diagnosing and/or treating Kawasaki diseases. The novel biomarkers of the invention show altered cytosine methylations state of certain CpG loci in subject with Kawasaki Disease relative to subject without Kawasaki diseases. Also provided are kits comprising at least one primer or reagent specific for the altered cytosine methylation state of certain CpG loci to detect Kawasaki Disease.

Methods and kits for diagnosing kawasaki disease and methods for treating kawasaki disease

Described is a method of diagnosing, treating, or monitoring a treatment for Kawasaki disease in a subject. The method includes detecting the level of a biomarker in a sample obtained from the subject, the biomarker being IL-7F, sCD40L, MPIF-1, E-selectin, IP-10, or IL-33. The level is compared to a cut-off level. Also described is a kit for carrying out the method.

Diagnosis and treatment of Kawasaki disease

Kits for detecting Kawasaki disease, containing an agent for sequencing or measuring the expression level of one or more of the following: miR-941, miR-182-5p and miR-183-5p are provided. Methods for detecting Kawasaki disease in a subject, comprising the identifying of one or more of the following in the subject: miR-941, miR-182-5p and miR-183-5p, are also provided.
