A magnetic recording and reproduction apparatus includes an arm section pivotable about a pivoting shaft; a tape guide section provided on the arm section for guiding a magnetic tape; a capstan section for driving the magnetic tape so as to run; and a maintaining section provided on the capstan section. The arm section is pivotable between a first location and a second location. The first location is a location at which the information recording to and/or information reproduction from the magnetic tape is possible. The second location is a location at which the information recording to and/or information reproduction from the magnetic tape is not possible. When the arm section pivots from the second location to the first location, the maintaining section maintains a relative position of the arm section, which is in the first location, to the capstan section.

Magnetic recording and reproduction apparatus

A magnetic recording and reproduction apparatus according to the present invention includes a cylinder for recording information to and/or reproducing information from a magnetic tape; a chassis section having a first chassis surface having the cylinder provided thereon and a second chassis surface substantially perpendicular to the first chassis surface; a capstan section for driving the magnetic tape so as to run, the capstan section being provided on the first chassis surface; and a securing section for securing the capstan section to the chassis section, the securing section being provided on the second chassis surface.

An apparatus of the present invention is a magnetic recording/reproduction apparatus for pulling out a magnetic tape from a tape cassette and winding the magnetic tape around a rotary head cylinder, having a rotary head, for a predetermined arc, for recording/reproducing the magnetic tape. The magnetic recording/reproduction apparatus includes: a rotary head cylinder; a first base member on which the tape cassette is mounted; a second base member for guiding a reciprocal movement of the first bane member toward/away from the rotary head cylinder; first to fifth vertical posts for guiding the magnetic tape, wherein a winding contact line, along which the magnetic tape contacts each of the first to fifth vertical posts, is perpendicular to a tape driving direction in which the magnetic tape is driven; and first to third inclined posts for guiding the magnetic tape, wherein a winding contact line, along which the magnetic tape contacts each of the first to third inclined posts, is not perpendicular to the tape driving direction.
