A fuel supply control method for an engine having a fluid torque converter with a clutch for mechanically connecting the input and output sides of the fluid torque converter wherein the clutch is engaged and the fuel supply to the engine is stopped during speed reduction when the engine speed or the vehicular speed is over a predetermined value under a no load condition of the engine, such as during deceleration from a high speed. In the present method the clutch is released first at a predetermined speed and then the fuel supply to the engine is restarted when the speed, either engine speed or vehicular speed, drops below the first predetermined speed.

Fuel supply control method for an engine with a fluid torque converter

An air intake side secondary air supply system for an internal combustion engine is provided with a linear type solenoid valve disposed in an air intake side secondary air supply passage leading to an intake air passage, downstream from the throttle valve. The opening degree of the linear type solenoid valve is controlled continuously by a drive current supplied to the solenoid. The magnitude of the drive current of the solenoid is determined by providing a base value of current which is responsive to a plurality of engine parameters that represent the engine load, and by correcting the base value in accordance with a result of the sensing of concentration of an exhaust gas component.

Air intake side secondary air supply system for an internal combustion

An outer vent control device for use with a carburetor includes a valve housing adapted to be attached to the outer wall of a float chamber in thermally conductive relation, a first control valve disposed in the valve housing and openable when the engine stops its operation, and a second thermosensitive control valve disposed in the valve housing and closable when the temperature of the float chamber drops below a preset temperature. The second thermosensitive control valve includes a thermosensitive unit and a cover attached to a valve housing thereof in covering relation to the thermosensitive unit. The second thermosensitive control valve also has a valve seat member with a valve seat disposed in the valve housing and a valve body movably disposed in the valve housing and seatable on the valve seat. The valve body has an upper conical surface facing an inlet port remotely from the valve seat. The cover has a ventilation hole defined in the bottom thereof at a lowermost position thereon.

Outer vent control device for a carburetor

Apparatus for controlling exhaust gas recirculation in an internal combustion engine employs a first control valve in an exhaust gas recirculation passageway, a second control valve in an air conduit connecting the intake passage to atmosphere through selective restriction means, and a regulating valve responsive to differential vacuum intensities for actuating the control valves. The restriction means comprise a plurality of individual restrictions one or more of which are selectively put into operation depending upon engine operating parameters such as coolant temperature and driving speed.

Exhaust gas recirculation system

Deceleration control apparatus for a vehicle engine minimizes increase in exhaust pollutants during sudden deceleration while at the same time maintaining effective braking action of the engine to reduce the speed of the vehicle. In addition to a dash pot mechanism subjected to vacuum pressures both upstream and downstream from the engine throttle valve for regulating closing movement of the throttle valve, an air passage communicates with the engine intake passage downstream from the throttle valve. A control valve is operatively interposed in the air passage to admit atmospheric air into the engine intake passage upon sudden deceleration in engine speed. The control valve closes slowly during continued deceleration and closes off the air supply when deceleration ceases.
