An electrical insulating material for use in electrical insulators, for example, for insulated electric wires such as internal wiring of electronic equipment, automobiles or the like, electrical insulating covers produced from the electrical insulating material and a method of electrical insulation using the material are provided. More particularly, it relates to an electrical insulating material which is excellent in mechanical properties and durability, an electrical insulating cover produced from the material and a method of electrical insulation using the material.

Electrical insulating material and method for fastening a shaped body

There is provided a flexible resin boot of which the noise-preventing effect lasts long and which ensures improved sealability and durability. The boot is formed from a base resin of a thermoplastic elastomer resin, and has a large port and a small port that are connected with each other via a bellows therebetween. For this, mineral oil or vegetable oil is added to the thermoplastic elastomer resin. Preferably, the thermoplastic elastomer resin is a thermoplastic polyester elastomer, and the mineral oil is process oil having an aromatic content of at most%. The boot is used for covering the constant velocity joint in an automobile.

Process of making a flexible resin boot

A polyester elastomer composition comprising a polyester block copolymer and a compound having, in one molecule, not less than two functional groups capable of reacting with a terminal group of the polyester block copolymer, and showing (A) a weight loss (volatility) at 150.degree. C., 2 hours of not more than 0.4% and (B) a gelation degree (gel fraction) at 250.degree. C., 4 hours of not more than 50%; and a polyester elastomer composition comprising a polyester block copolymer, a compound having, in one molecule, not less than two functional groups capable of reacting with a terminal group of the polyester block copolymer and a chain extender heating loss percentage satisfying the formula: (W1-W2)/W1.ltoreq.0.1, and a stabilizer comprising a tertiary amine as a part of its skeleton. From such composition, an elastomer molded product having fine mechanical strength, heat resistance and resistance to hydrolysis, which shows less volatility during heating and less gel and bleed out, can be obtained.

Polyester elastomer composition

A resin shock absorber comprising a compression deformable portion made of a resin having a flexural modulus of elasticity of 500 to 20,000 kg/cm.sup.2, said shock absorber having a yield strength of 2 to 25 kN/m.sup.2 and a compressive energy absorption efficiency of 50% or higher. The shock absorber of the present invention has a high energy absorption efficiency for its reaction force, superior restorability, and is maintenance-free since the absorber has resistance against corrosion, water and weather. Therefore, the absorber is applicable to the use in the sea, on the ground, as well as above the ground. Furthermore, the shock absorber can be easily extended on demand into a block shock absorber, which is light in weight and simple in structure and capable of exhibiting uniform cushion characteristics over an extended area.
