A monolithic organic porous ion exchanger having a continuous skeleton and continuous pores, wherein the continuous skeleton is formed of an organic polymer being a hydrolysate of a crosslinked polymer of a (meth)acrylic acid ester and divinylbenzene, the organic polymer having any one or both of a —COOH group and a —COONa group as ion-exchange groups, the continuous skeleton has a thickness of 0.1 to 100 μm, the continuous pores have an average diameter of 1.0 to 1000 μm, the monolithic organic porous ion exchanger has a total pore volume of 0.5 to 50.0 mL/g, and has a total ion-exchange capacity of the —COOH group and the —COONa group per weight in a dry state of 4.0 mg equivalent/g or more.

A monolithic organic porous body includes a continuous macropore structure that includes cellular macropores that overlap to form openings having an average diameter of 20 to 200 &#x3bc;m, the monolithic organic porous body having a thickness of 1 mm or more and a total pore volume of 0.5 to 5 ml/g, an area of a skeleton observed within an SEM image of a section of the continuous macropore structure (in a dry state) being 25 to 50%. A monolithic ion exchanger is produced by introducing an ion-exchange group into the monolithic organic porous body. The monolithic organic porous body and the monolithic ion exchanger are chemically stable, have high mechanical strength, and ensure a low pressure loss when fluid passes through. A method and a system for adaptation of transient engine performance capable of reducing a time for the transient test of an engine and also reducing a man-hour for preparing control software for the engine, wherein the test is performed by using the actual engine in a transient state in which the rotation speed and torque of the engine vary in time sequence. Output data as the results of the test is taken in, and the relation of the output data with the controlled values of the control factors given to the engine is taken to generate a transient engine model in which the relation of the output to the input of the engine is described. By using the prepared transient engine model, a simulation is performed to know the requirements of a target performance which can be satisfied by changing the controlled values of any of the controlled factors to provide control data meeting the requirements of the target performance. The control logic of an engine control circuit is prepared by using the control data.
