A fuel pump includes a pump housing having a compression chamber. A plunger is axially movable in the pump housing for pressurizing fuel in the compression chamber. A discharge valve is configured to open to supply fuel from the compression chamber to an internal combustion engine when pressure in the compression chamber is more than predetermined pressure. A fuel passage is configured to communicate a downstream of the discharge valve with an upstream of the discharge valve. An in-passage member is accommodated in the fuel passage. The in-passage member includes multiple members, which are combined to define a throttle portion for restricting fuel, which returns from the downstream of the discharge valve to the upstream of the discharge valve.

Injector

A fuel transfer pipe and a cylinder head of an engine in which a fuel injection device is restricted from being separated from each other by a restricting member. A pressing member is interposed between the fuel transfer pipe and the cylinder head to receive a restricting force of the restricting member presses the fuel transfer pipe to a side opposing the cylinder head and presses the fuel injection device to a side of the cylinder head by a reaction force against the restricting force.

Fuel supply apparatus having resilient injector-pressing member

A formation of deposits on a fuel injector is suppressed by controlling the temperature of the nozzle holder of the fuel injector around the nozzle to maintain at least a part of the fuel remaining on the nozzle holder surface after the fuel injection in a liquid state, to thereby hold precursors of the deposits in the liquid fuel to permit the precursor to be blown out from the nozzle holder surface by a subsequent fuel injection flow.

Method for suppressing formation of deposits on fuel injector and device

An EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) gas assist injection system for an internal combustion engine is provided which includes fuel injectors, sub-exhaust valves, and EGR valves. Each of the sub-exhaust valves is mechanically opened in synchronization with the start of an exhaust process of a corresponding one of engine cylinders. Each of the EGR valves is electrically opened to supply part of exhaust gas discharged through one of the subexhaust valves from one of the engine cylinders which is in the exhaust process to mix it with fuel sprayed into another of the engine cylinders which is in an intake process for promoting atomization of the fuel spray and achieving EGR.
