A slide structure comprises a roll shaft and a roll bearing. A whole circumference of the roll shaft is made of a sintered ceramics body. A sliding surface of the roll bearing is constructed by inserting a cermet into a carbon-carbon reinforcing graphite member. A continuous hot dipping apparatus has a roll supported and rotated in a molten metal bath. A sliding surface of the roll shaft and the roll bearing employs the slide structure. The corrosion resistivity and the wearing resistivity can be improved and a long service life can be attained. The slide structure comprised of the roll shaft and the roll bearing can be smoothly rotated by decreasing the friction coefficient of the slide structure.

A sliding bearing to be immersed in molten metal has low friction and long life. The bearing is provided with a solid particle trap portion for preventing solid particles in the molten metal from penetrating between sliding surfaces of the shaft and the bearing and removing the solid particles. Abrasive wear and an increase in friction, caused by biting of the solid particles into the sliding surfaces can be prevented. A continuous hot-dip plating apparatus employs the sliding bearing in the molten metal.

The invention relates to a molten metal plating apparatus comprising a roller rotatably supported by a bearing in a molten metal bath, the roller having a shaft sliding portion, the bearing having a sliding portion, both the shaft sliding portion and the sliding portion being made of ceramic sintered body, at least one of both the shaft of the roller and the bearing being made of a ceramic sintered body containing a solid lubricating material. The invention also relates to a die casting machine having a sleeve and a plunger tip both made of ceramic sintered bodies at least one of which contains a solid lubricating material. The bearing for the roller, the sleeve and the tip may be formed of a composite body having a ceramic sintered body portion and and a metal portion secured and fitted thereto by an intermediate member which is elastically and plastically deformed at the time of the usage. The composite structure formed by fitting is usable for other applications.

A continuous hot dipping apparatus which comprises a slide bearing structure of a bearing and a roll shaft which is of a combination of a ceramic material and a solid lubricant material, and which has good wear resistance and long term durability. A heat resistant steel is provided, which is used in a molten metal of hot dipping and which essentially consists of 0.15-0.30% C, not more than 20% Si, not more than 2% Mn, 20-30% Cr, 10-20% Ni and not less than 50% Fe.

Continuous hot dipping apparatus and slide bearing structure therefor

A coating system and method of using same for coating a hot rolling strip coil, such as zinc coating of steel strip, is disclosed. The coating system includes sequentially arranged coil uncoilers, a strip welder, a pickling tank, a heating and deoxidizing furnace, a coating pot, and a coiler. A rolling mill with at least one cold rolling mill stand is interposed between the pickling tank and the heating and deoxidizing furnace. In certain operations with hot rolling strip coil having a larger than desired thickness, the cold rolling mill is operated to reduce the strip material thickness. In operations where the strip material is of proper desired thickness, the strip material is passed through the cold rolling mill without carrying out cold rolling. The system and method accommodate a single coating line usable with a wide variety of hot rolled strip material and finish coated material thicknesses.

A continuous hot-dip plating apparatus has a roll assembly having superior resistance to erosion caused by the hot melt plating metal, as well as high resistance to wear of the shaft and bearings, which are immersed in the hot melt of the plating metal. A ceramic material is mounted on the sliding portions of the metallic roll shaft to make sliding contact with the metallic bearings and/or on the sliding surfaces of the metallic bearings which contact the metallic roll shaft. A clearance is left between the shafts and bearings to hold molten metal thereinbetween for lubrication.
