According to the present invention, a curable composition can be provided, said composition being characterized by comprising: (A) an episulfide compound; and (B) a photobase generator comprising an organoboron compound represented by general formula (1) below: (In general formula (1), R, R, R, Rand Rmay be the same as or different from one another and independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms; and Ar, Arand Armay be the same as or different from one another and independently represent a group selected from the group consisting of a phenyl group, a naphthyl group, an anthracenyl group and a phenanthryl group, each of which may have a substituent selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group and a heterocyclic group.)

The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a catalyst for preliminary reaction and a preliminary reaction method, which are suitable for a composition that is obtained by adding a thiol compound and an isocyanate compound to an episulfide compound; and a polymerizable composition for optical materials, which is capable of preventing yellowing of an optical material which contains a composition that is obtained by adding a thiol compound and an isocyanate compound to an episulfide compound. The above-mentioned problem can be solved by a polymerizable composition for optical materials, which contains a thiourethane oligomer that is obtained by preliminarily reacting the whole or a part of a thiol compound and an isocyanate compound in a composition that contains an episulfide compound, the thiol compound and the isocyanate compound, while using a compound represented by formula (2) below as a catalyst for preliminary reaction  In formula (2), R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and X represents an organic group which has 2 to 11 carbon atoms and contains a vinyl group, a vinylidene group or a vinylene group.

Polymerizable composition for optical materials

According to the present invention, a polymerizable composition having excellent storage stability can be provided by adding an acid that serves as a stabilizing agent and a free-radical polymerization inhibitor to a polymerizable composition that contains a polythiol compound and an enic compound having a phenylthio backbone as monomer components. In the present invention, an embodiment in which the acid is at least one compound having a protonic-acid-type functional group which is selected from phosphoric acid, phosphonic acid, phosphinic acid, sulfonic acid, sulfoneimide and carboxylic acid is preferred.

There are provided a photocurable composition capable of being readily cured by irradiation of ultraviolet rays and a cured product of the photocurable composition, as well as a coating composition and a coating film obtained from the coating composition. The cured product exhibits a high refractive index, a less discoloration and an excellent transparency. The present invention relates to a photocurable composition comprising (A) an episulfide compound containing a thiirane ring; and (B) a photo-base generator represented by the general formula (1): wherein Ar is phenyl, etc.; R is an alkyl group, etc.; &#x2014;Ais an ammonium ion; and Xis a borate anion, etc., and a coating composition comprising the photocurable composition and (C) a modified silicone oil, as well as a cured product and a coating film obtained from these compositions.

The photobase generator of the invention is represented by the following formula 1: wherein Ar, R, Aand Xare as defined in the specification. Since the photobase generator of the formula 1 absorbs ultraviolet lights of relatively long wavelength and is photolyzed to generate a strong base efficiently, a composition containing the photobase generator and an episulfide compound is easily cured by polymerization under ultraviolet irradiation.
