A golf club head enables the initial velocity of a ball to be increased and enables the carry to be lengthened. In some example structures, the golf club includes a face plate formed from metal and club head body (e.g., a crown and sole) formed from fiber reinforced plastic. A weighted body is provided inside the rearmost portion of the golf club head and a low rigidity portion whose width becomes gradually narrower as it approaches the rearmost portion is provided in the crown extending from the vicinity of the face plate to the rearmost portion.

Golf clubs and golf club heads

In some example structures, the golf club includes a face plate formed from metal and club head body (e.g. a crown and sole) formed from fiber reinforced plastic. A power transmission shaft to be used mainly in vehicles comprises metal joint elements and a metal pipe connected to each other. A fiber reinforced plastic pipe having a large flexural modulus of elasticity is inserted into the metal pipe, thus forming a composite FRP shaft having flexural rigidity sufficient to serve as a power transmission shaft.

Power transmission shaft

A hollow golf club head provides for a longer flight distance, a larger &ldquo;sweet spot&rdquo;, and reduced veering in the flight path than a conventional golf club head. The golf club head has a maximum weight of 200 g, a volume in the range from 300 to 900 cc and a moment of inertia of at least 4&middot;10 kg&middot;m . The head is made from a fiber reinforced epoxy resin which provides at least 30 kg/mm . Suitable reinforcing fibers include carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid fiber and polyester fiber. Suitable resin materials include epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin and vinyl ester resin. The reinforcing fibers in the resin are arranged such that adjacent layers of reinforcing material are oriented perpendicular to one another. The perpendicular orientation of the fibers provide shock resistance to the head. A high elasticity and high density component, such as tungsten, is dispersed in the resin to provide reduced vibrations and improved acoustics to the head when impacting a ball. The outer layer of the head can be made from a metal material, such as titanium, to minimize damage to the face and the sole of the head due to friction. The club head is formed by: cutting fiber prepregs into a specified shape, placing the cut fiber prepregs into a two-piece concave mold such that the fibers in adjacent layers are aligned perpendicular to one another, closing the two-part concave mold around a nylon tube bag, pressurizing the nylon tube bag as the closed two part mold is heated to 130&deg; C. for 1 hour, and splitting the mold open after heating to provide a hollow golf club head.

Golf club head

A propeller shaft has a metal pipe (,) with a joint element (,) joined at an end thereof. A fiber reinforced plastic layer (,) having a thickness that achieves a flexural rigidity satisfying a required natural bending frequency is formed on an outer circumference of the metal pipe (,) satisfying a static torsional strength required as a propeller shaft. The fiber reinforced plastic layer (,) has an interface strength between the reinforcing fiber and the matrix within a range of 20 to 200 MPa as measured by the microdroplet method.

A polishing composition for polishing a memory hard disk, which comprises water and at least one abrasive selected from the group consisting of silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, cerium oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide, silicon nitride and manganese dioxide and which further contains an iron chelate complex dissolved in the composition, the iron chelate complex having a nitrogen-containing compound as a ligand, and the pH of the entire composition being from 6 to 10.

A polishing composition for polishing a memory hard disk comprising water and at least one abrasive selected from the group consisting of silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, cerium oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide, silicon nitride and manganese dioxide, which further contains an iron compound dissolved in the composition, said iron compound being selected from the group consisting of iron(III) nitrate, iron(III) sulfate, ammonium iron(III) sulfate, iron(III) perchlorate and an ion salt of an organic acid.

A novel polishing composition composed of water, sol or gel of silica as a polishing agent, and a polishing accelerator has been obtained. The accelerator could be a persulfate compound, a persulfate compound combined with hydrogen peroxide, or a hydrazine compound. Another polishing composition composed of water, other polishing agent than silica and a hydrazine compound as a polishing accelerator has also been obtained.

A roll formed of a carbon fiber composite material having at least two different carbon fiber-winding angles, wherein the winding angle in the innermost layer is '75.degree. to 90.degree. to the axial direction and the winding angle in the outermost layer is 0.degree. to .+-.35.degree. to the axial direction.
