A solid electrolytic capacitor includes a capacitor element, an anode terminal, and a cathode terminal. The anode terminal is electrically connected to the anode lead of the capacitor element through a pillow portion formed on a surface of the anode terminal. The cathode terminal is electrically connected to the cathode layer of the capacitor element. A method of manufacturing the solid electrolytic capacitor includes steps (a) and (b). In the step (a), a first printed portion to become the pillow portion is formed by performing printing on a predetermined place of the surface of the anode terminal with paste containing a conductive material and resin. In the step (b), the anode lead is connected to a tip end part of the first printed portion.

To provide an electrolytic capacitor having lead wires excellent in weldability with a boss member made of aluminum, excellent in solder wettability, and less whisker. The lead wires have a nickel plating layer in a thickness of 0.3 to 5.0 &#x3bc;m, a palladium plating layer in a thickness of 0.01 to 0.10 &#x3bc;m, and a gold plating layer in a thickness of 0.002 to 0.030 &#x3bc;m.

A solid electrolytic capacitor which includes a capacitor element in which a dielectric coating layer and a cathode layer are sequentially formed on a surface of an anode element having an anode lead member planted on one end surface thereof, an anode terminal connected with the anode lead member, a platy cathode terminal mounting the capacitor element thereon and connected with the cathode layer, and an enclosure resin coating the capacitor element, a part of the cathode terminal and a part of the anode terminal being exposed on a same plane from the enclosure resin. The cathode terminal is provided with a cathode exposed portion exposed from the enclosure resin in at least two locations on the same plane.

Solid electrolytic capacitor and mounting method therefor

The present invention provides a solid electrolytic capacitor comprising a capacitor element in which a dielectric coating layer and a cathode layer are sequentially formed on a surface of an anode element having an anode lead member planted on one end surface thereof, an anode terminal connected with the anode lead member, a platy cathode terminal mounting the capacitor element thereon and connected with the cathode layer, and an enclosure resin coating the capacitor element, a part of the cathode terminal and a part of the anode terminal being exposed on a same plane from the enclosure resin. The cathode terminal is provided with a cathode exposed portion exposed from the enclosure resin in at least two locations on the same plane.

The invention provides a solid electrolytic capacitor which comprises a capacitor element including an anode body having an anode leading member, and a dielectric coating layer, a solid electrolyte layer and a cathode leading layer which are formed successively over a surface of the anode body. The anode leading member has an anode terminal member connected thereto, the cathode leading layer has a cathode terminal member connected thereto, and the capacitor element is covered with a packaging resin portion. The cathode terminal member is connected to the cathode leading layer with current control means provided therebetween. The current control means comprises a current control layer reversibly increasable in electrical resistance with overcurrent or excessive heat, and a pair of electrode members each in the form of a plate or foil and having the current control layer sandwiched therebetween. The electrode members are joined to the cathode leading layer and the cathode terminal member, respectively.
