There are provided an image printing method method, an image printing apparatus, an image printing system, as well as a label producing method and a label producing system, which are capable of communicating print image data representing a desired print image in units of line data items, and at the same time printing a plurality of the print images at a high speed. When N copies of a print image, where N is an integer equal to or larger than 2, are printed on a print medium side by side in a direction along an X axis of the print medium, assuming that the X axis and an Y axis are two axes orthogonal to each other or a two-dimensional rectangular coordinate system, the print image being formed of J dots in the direction along the X axis by K dots in a direction along the Y axis where J is an integer equal to or larger than 2 and K is an integer equal to or larger than 2, line data items each representing one line of J dots are sequentially received according to a predetermined communication protocol from a predetermined other end of communication opposite party, whereby K line data items corresponding to K lines in the direction along the Y axis are sequentially received. When a k-th line data item (k is an arbitrary integer defined as 1&#x2266;k&#x2266;K) of the K line data items is received, a k-th long line data item is formed which represents one line of N times J dots formed by arranging N lines of J dots side by side in the direction along the X axis, and the one line of N times J dots is printed as a k-th line on the print medium in the direction along the X axis thereof.

Image printing method, image printing apparatus, and image printing system, as well as label producing method, and label producing system

A main image and a background image are formed using colors each defined by a set of n-valued basic color gradation values each having any one of n possible values (n is an integer equal to or larger than 3) and defining a gradation value of a corresponding one of a predetermined set of basic colors. Different data items representative of candidates for the background image are stored as background image data candidates. Different sets of the basic gradation values corresponding respectively to the background image data candidates are stored as candidates for a main image gradation value set commonly applied to all valid pixels of the main image. One of the background image data candidates is arbitrarily set to a background image data item representative of the background image.

Image forming method and device

A synthesized image is formed by synthesizing a main image and a background mage represented by respective image data items each having n-valued gradation values each having any one of n possible values(n is an integer which is equal to or larger than 3) and defining a density of pixels. A plurality of different data items representative of candidates for the background image are stored as background image data candidates. An arbitrary one of the background image data candidates is set to a background image data item representative of the background image. There is formed a main image data item forming a main image data item representative of the main image, the main image data item having n-valued main image gradation values commonly applied to all valid pixels of the main image, as values of the n-value gradation values. An adjusted background image data item is formed by forming an adjusted background image data item by modifying the background image data item through replacing background gradation values applied to pixels of the background image as values of the n-valued gradation values by adjusted background gradation values formed by modifying the background gradation values. A synthesized image data item representative of the synthesized image is formed by synthesizing the main image and the background image based on the adjusted background image data item and the main image data item.

A printer block is capable of outputting synthesized images such that the synthesized images are recognizable, each of the synthesized images being synthesized from image elements. A display is capable of outputting any of the image elements such that the any of the image elements is recognizable only when the display outputs the any of the image elements separately. The image elements of each of the synthesized images are stored, in a non-synthesized state, with a predetermined one of the image elements being set to a representative image element that symbolizes a corresponding one of the synthesized images. The display is caused to output, in place of any one of the synthesized images, the representative image corresponding to the any one of the synthesized images.

Color printing apparatus

There are provided an image processing method and device. Dithering is executed using a dither matrix of m-valued thresholds (m is an integer &gE;2) for comparison with n-valued gradation values (n is an integer &gE;3; n&gE;m). An elementary shape image in a two-valued matrix is formed, for each selected image element of a whole image, which has pixels capable of being divided into ones forming an elementary object image and ones forming an elementary background image, by assigning a validity-indicative value to the former, and an invalidity-indicative value to the latter. For each corresponding selected image element, one of n possible numerical values is stored as a designated gradation value commonly applied to the former. A dither mask in a two-valued matrix identical in size to the dither matrix is stored. This two-valued matrix is formed by assigning the validity-indicative value and the invalidity-indicative value, respectively, to elements of the dither mask corresponding in location to respective ones of the thresholds with reference to which the designated gradation value is made valid, and remaining elements of the same. A dithered image element in a two-valued matrix identical in size to the dither mask is formed by a logical AND operation between each element of each matrix identical in size to the dither mask and constituting the elemetary shape image, and a corresponding one of the elements and the remaining elements.

The apparatus recognizes line length of character strings and judges if a line is longer than a threshold length. Slewing addition control divides a character string longer than the threshold length into two lines. When the number of inputted characters exceeds that allowed in the line, that part of the character string having the number of characters allowed for the line and that part of the characters overflowing the number of characters allowed in the line are displayed in different manners. The apparatus also calculates a ratio of lengths of a pair of specific lines to one or more other pairs, determines a character-size-type based on the ratios thus obtained, determines basic character sizes of the respective lines based on the character-size-type and then determines a character size for each line based on the length information and the basic character size of each line.

Apparatus and method for processing character information

A monochrome display device easily and clearly distinguishes a multicolored character image from a multicolored background image by employing four gradations of monochrome. First and second monochrome gradations are assigned to any respective non-colored and colored elements of the background image and third and fourth monochrome gradations are assigned to any respective non-colored and colored elements of the character image to display a composite image of the background image and the character image.

Image display device, electronic apparatus having same, and image display method

An image processing is provided. There is stored character string image data created by arranging at least one character image data item formed in response to text input. Processing image data is selected from character image data created in response to the text input, nonstandard character registration image data created by nonstandard character registration, blank image data formed of data representing a blank image area, and registered image data. The registered image data is created by subjecting any of the character image data, the nonstandard character registration image data, and the blank image data, to a sizing process, and registering the resulting image data. Synthesized image data is formed by synthesizing the processing image data with at least part of the character string image data by carrying out a synthesis operation. The synthesis operation includes any of logic operations.

Image processing device

There are provided a split image-forming method and device for dividing a basic image comprised of m lines of character string images and a background image including at least one of an outer frame and a background pattern and having the m lines of character string image arranged therein, into n image split images, as well as a split image-printing method and device for printing the split images. On condition that it is determined that the width of the basic image is larger than the width of the tape, and at the same time all of the widths of the m lines of the character string images are each smaller than the width of the tape, the width of the basic image is allocated to n split image widths representative of respective widths of n split images including m split images containing the m lines of character string images, respectively, to thereby divide the basic image into the n split images in a manner such that the m lines of character images can be separately printed on the tape without splitting any of the lines.

An image forming method, a stamp-making method, and apparatuses implementing these methods are provided. Each of characters included in each character string on one or a plurality of lines are laid out within a rectangular contour having a defined width in a reading direction. Each of the characters are laid out so as to satisfy B>D>O, where D is the dimension of a margin between an edge of the contour and a character at an end of the string, and B is the dimension of an inter-character spacing between adjacent characters. Each of the characters are enlarged in the horizontal direction and laid out such that an area ratio of character portions to blank portions within the contour is equal to or lower than a constant value. Within the plurality of lines, the one having the smallest quotient G of a calculation (A&minus;C&times;F)/F is determined as the longest line, where A is the width of the contour, C is the character width of each of the characters, and an inter-character spacing in the longest line is determined as a reference inter-character spacing dimension B. The characters on the longest line and the remaining line are laid out based on the reference inter-character spacing dimension B.

Character layout method, image forming method and stamp-making method and apparatus therefor

An external character creating method is provided for an image forming apparatus having a display screen. The external character creating method includes the steps of displaying at least a portion of image data in a specifying area on the display screen, displaying a dot-shaped cursor on the display screen, and creating an external character on the displayed image data using the cursor. The cursor is fixed at a position in the specifying area, so that the image data is scrolled in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction to create an external character.
