In an actuator, coils are kept from being displaced along a y-axis direction as projections of coil bobbins are sandwiched between first and second iron cores along the y-axis direction. Also, the coils are kept from being displaced excessively along x- and z-axis directions due to shocks, for instance, because they are fitted in groovelike channels fitted in the first and second iron cores. Since two bearings are sandwiched and fixed between third and fourth iron cores along the x-axis direction, the bearings can be easily set on a common axis with high accuracy. It is therefore possible to prevent displacement of the coils during operation of the actuator. Slidable support plates ensure smooth movements of an armature and thereby provide improved reliability, even when the distance between the support plates and the first to fourth iron cores is reduced.

A rectifier has a pair of heat dissipating plates at the positive (+) side and the negative (-) side which constitute a full-wave rectification circuit and are positioned in mutual confrontation with a small gap between them, and an insulating material to electrically insulate the both heat dissipating plates. A recessed portion is formed in each of the mutually opposed parts of the both heat dissipating plates; a noise-preventing capacitor element is housed in a closed space defined by the recessed portions to make an outer covering for the capacitor, and the capacitor element and each of the heat dissipating plates are electrically connected.

A brush holder for a charging generator for a car comprises a one-piece resin-molded body in which a pair of recesses for holding brushes are formed and a plurality of terminal plates are embedded except for small exposed parts to which lead wires of a voltage regulator and lead wires of said brushes are soldered. A brush is disposed in each of the recesses, and each of the brushes is connected to one of the lead wires which is also connected to a corresponding one of the terminals.

An a.c. generator for a car comprises a waterproof cylinder made of a plastic resin which covers the outer periphery of slip rings, a first flat plate to separate and insulate an external terminal from a bracket, and a second flat plate extending toward a rectifier with a predetermined gap between the second flat plate and the rectifier.

A partition plate structure for a cooling fan for an alternating current generator constructed in such a manner that an inner part of the rear bracket is inwardly extended in the radial direction to provide an extended surface so as to face the blade with a predetermined distance in an area where the rectifier and the brush holder are not placed; a first partition plate to be fastened to the rear bracket together with the rectifier and a second partition plate to be fastened to the rear bracket together with the brush holder are respectively placed in the rear bracket so as to be substantially flush with the extended surface.
