A storage apparatus has a controller for controlling data input to and output from a plurality of storage devices composed of flash memories and the controller manages the number of times data are written to each storage device on the basis of each storage device, wherein when the controller receives a write command from an access requestor and if any of the storage devices is a storage device whose number of times of data write exceeds a threshold value, the controller determines that the data write mode is an intensive mode, selects the storage device, whose number of times of data write exceeds the threshold value, as a specified storage device and writes data, which are to be processed for the write command, intensively to the selected specified storage device.

Storage apparatus and its data processing method

Data conversion processing for converting access target data into data of a different block size is executed without degradation of data input/output processing performance. A first controller manages its own load by associating it with LUs, which are access targets of an access requester; and if the first controller receives an access request from the access requester, it judges whether its load exceeds a threshold or not; and if its load exceeds the threshold, the first controller executes first data conversion processing for converting data relating to an access target LU(s) of the access requester from a first block size into a second block size or second data conversion processing for converting the data from the second block size into the first block size; and if its load is equal to or less than the threshold, the first controller gives a command to a second controller to execute the first data conversion processing or the second data conversion processing and the second controller executes the first data conversion processing or the second data conversion processing based on the command from the first controller.

Storage management software obtains storage resource configuration information set for each of a number of logical partitions in the storage system and groups the storage resources into storage groups such that the storage resource group configuration individually set for the logical partitions in the storage system matches the group configuration of the storage resources constituting the storage groups.
