There are provided a sheet processing apparatus and an image forming apparatus which can adjust adhesive strength by a simple configuration. A toner image for adhesive strength adjustment is formed on a toner image of a sheet to be bonded by an image forming portion provided in a copying machine body. An adhesive is applied onto a bonding portion of the sheet by a gluing device provided in a finisher. The bonding portion of the sheet onto which the adhesive is applied and the toner image having the toner image for adhesive strength adjustment of the sheet are bonded together by a second pushing-out member and a pair of second folding rollers provided in the finisher. The amount of toner forming the toner image for adhesive strength adjustment formed by the image forming portion is adjusted to adjust the adhesive strength of the adhesive.

The present invention provides a sheet processing apparatus and an image forming apparatus which can achieve reduction of running cost. A notch part forming portionA including a punchand a dieforms plural notch parts in an end part of a sheet bundle folded by a sheet folding portion. A discharge roller pairandturns back the notch parts to bind the sheet bundle. As a result, the sheet bundle can easily be opened and the reduction of the running cost can be achieved because stapling is not performed.

The present invention provides a sheet stacking apparatus which has a pair of lower discharge rollers which discharges a sheet, a processing tray which stacks the sheet discharged from the pair of lower discharge rollers, a trailing end stopper which aligns the trailing end portion in the conveying direction of the sheet bundle stacked on the processing tray, and pull-in paddles which drop the sheet discharged from the pair of lower discharge rollers on the processing tray and conveys the sheet to abut against the trailing end stopper where the pull-in paddles rotate at a first rotating speed so that the sheet discharged from the pair of lower discharge rollers is dropped on the processing tray and the pull-in paddles rotate at a second rotating speed, slower than the first rotating speed, so that the sheet abuts against the trailing end stopper.

A sheet processor includes a holding unit for holding a folded batch of sheets, a pressing member for pressing against a folded portion of the batch of sheets, a nipping member for nipping portions of the batch adjacent to the folded portion so as to nip the batch of sheets from opposite directions, and a casing for supporting the pressing member and the nipping member.

A sheet processing device includes a pair of gripping rollers which can grip and convey a sheet bundle in a booklet-like form, a pressing roller which presses and flattens the folded back portion of the sheet bundle gripped by the gripping rollers, and a control unit which performs rotation control on the pair of gripping rollers. The control unit controls the gripping rollers so as to stop when the folded back portion of the sheet bundle protrudes from the rollers by a predetermined amount. The pressing roller flattens down the protruding folded back portion when the gripping rollers are stopped by the control unit and is in the state of gripping the sheet bundle.

A folded back portion flattening device includes a gripper and a presser. The gripper grips a sheet bundle formed into a booklet with the folded back portion protruding from the gripper. The presser presses the folded back portion of the sheet bundle gripped by the gripper, and includes pressing rollers which have pressing rotational surfaces and which are disposed along the folded back portion. The pressing rotational surfaces press the folded back portion. The pressing rollers are disposed so that the rotational pressing surface of a second pressing roller, which presses the folded back portion after the rotational pressing surface of a first pressing roller has pressed the folded back portion, presses deeper into an edge of the sheet bundle than the rotational pressing surface of the first pressing roller. At least one of the gripper and presser is movable in a direction parallel to the folded back portion.

Folded back portion flattening device, sheet processor, and image forming apparatus

A printer includes an ink jet head, a recovery unit, a moving unit, a conveying unit and a cover. The ink jet head performs printing on a printing medium and has an ink ejection port on an ejection port forming surface. The recovery unit is used for a recovery process for maintaining an ink ejection state of the ink jet head in a good condition. The recovery unit includes a cap for covering the ejection port forming surface, a wiping member for wiping the ejection port forming surface, and an absorbing member for receiving ink ejected from the ejection port of the ink jet head. The moving unit moves the recovery unit to a position where the recovery unit faces the ink jet head and to a position where the recovery unit does not face the ink jet head, the ejection forming surface of which is oriented toward the printing medium. The conveying unit conveys the printing medium to be printed by the ink jet head. The cover contains the ink jet head and the recovery unit. The cover is arranged to be opened so that a conveying path of the conveying unit appears and to be closed to cover the conveying path.

Recovering apparatus for recovering a status of an ink jet recording head

In a recovering apparatus for recovering ink ejecting ports forming a plane of an ink jet head, an ink absorbing member is disposed inward of a cap and proximate to the ink ejecting ports, facing the ink ejecting ports at a predetermined distance therefrom. Large ink droplets or water droplets adhering to the ink ejecting ports are then absorbed in the absorbing member. Thereafter, the plane of the ink jet heads with the ink ejecting ports is cleanly wiped by a wiping member, thereby preventing scattering of ink droplets or water droplets away from the ink ejecting ports. A trough is located adjacent to each head, and the recovering apparatus is disposed with respect to the trough so that a distance between the recovering apparatus and the ink jet head can be reduced, thereby permitting a compact arrangement of the recovering apparatus and the ink jet head.

A close-assist device for assisting the closing of an openable and closeable member provided on an apparatus main body so as to be vertically openable and closeable at the time when the openable and closeable member is opened by an angle not less than a predetermined angle but less than 90 degrees with respect to the apparatus main body and maintained in the open state, the close-assist device including: a close-assist member provided on the openable and closeable member so as to be capable of dangling and rotating at the time when the openable and closeable member is opened; and a rotation restricting unit which, when the openable and closeable member is in the open state, restricts the rotation of the close-assist member in a direction in which it moves away from an opening/closing base portion of the openable and closeable member.

An automatic original feeding apparatus mounted on the main body of an image forming apparatus has an automatic original feeding apparatus main body, and rotary supporting device for openably and closably mounting the automatic original feeding apparatus main body and an opening and closing mechanism interposed between the main body of the image forming apparatus and the automatic original feeding apparatus main body and permitting the rotating operation of the automatic original feeding apparatus main body relative to the main body of the image forming apparatus. A plurality of biasing members biases the automatic original feeding apparatus main body to offset the rotational force by gravity, and at least one of the biasing members has an adjusting mechanism for adjusting a biasing force.

An automatic original document conveying apparatus conveys a placed original document to a prescribed position and delivers the original document. The automatic original document conveying apparatus includes a resin frame, an original document feeding unit for sequentially feeding an original placed document, an original document delivering unit for delivering the fed original document and a metal support plate thereof. The metal support plate securely connects in a united body the resin frame, the original document feeding unit and the original document delivering unit so as to maintain respective relative assembled positions of the units.
