An internal gear pump () of the present invention includes an inner rotor () relatively non-rotatably mounted on one end of a pump shaft () driven by a crankshaft (), and an outer rotor () rotatably supported by a crankcase () and meshed with the inner rotor (). The pump shaft () has a flange () formed therein, which flange () is rotatably supported by the crankcase () and covers one end face of each of the inner and outer rotors (and).

A mounting structure for an air cleaner on a combustion engine according to the present invention includes an engine cover () for covering at least a portion of the combustion engine (E). The cover () includes an air cleaner casing () having an opening and an air cleaner cover () for covering the opening of the air cleaner casing (). Flanges () are formed in respective joint portions of the air cleaner casing () and the air cleaner cover (). The mounting structure also includes a slider () movable between a disengagement position and an engagement position in a direction parallel to the joint portions. This slider () when moved to the engagement position connects the flanges () of the air cleaner casing () and cover (), but when moved to the disengagement position the slider () enables the cover () to be released from the casing ().

A breathing system in a combustion engine includes an air cleaner () for purifying air to be supplied to the engine. The air cleaner () includes a cleaner casing () having a blow-by gas inlet port () and an intake air discharge port (). The breathing system also includes a breather passage () having first and second breather passage portions. The first breather passage portion is fluidly connected with the inlet port () for communicating a crank chamber () to a portion of an interior of the air cleaner () downstream of the cleaner element (). The second breather passage portion fluidly connects the blow-by gas inlet port () and the intake air discharge port () and has a drain hole () for draining into the cleaner casing () a water component, separated from a blow-by gas (G) flowing through the breather passage ().

An intake manifold is provided which communicates with left and right intake passages located respectively in left and right cylinder banks of an internal combustion vee-engine. The intake manifold comprises a single inlet passage portion, and two branch passage portions which branch from an outlet end of the inlet passage portion and which communicate respectively with the intake passages. A liquid-cooled engine system comprising a liquid-cooled engine and a radiator which are arranged within an engine room. A duct is arranged within the engine room, for guiding air flow having passed through the radiator, to the outside of the engine room without exposure of the air flow to the engine. At least a part of the exhaust muffler connected to the engine is disposed within the duct so that the exhaust muffler is cooled by at least a part of the air flow guided by the duct. Preferably, the engine is a vertical type V-engine.

A one-piece crankcase and cylinder block structure for V-type internal combustion engines is disclosed, which is formed by casing and comprises a crankcase with its one end wall side opened and a cylinder block including at least a pair of right and left cylinders opposed to each other at 90.degree.. The cylinders are formed to project at their skirt portion into inside of the crankcase forming a longitudinal space between the protruded ends of the skirt portions to house a camshaft. Another space is defined adjacent to the opened side of the crankcase between the protruded ends of the skirt portions to house a camshaft gear. Since the construction is such that, in casting, the directions in which the segments of mold and the cores are ejected from the casting are uniformly distributed, and the distance over which the cores and mold segments are ejected is greatly minimized. Thus, a relatively small casting machine can be employed to properly cast such a one-piece crankcase and cylinder block structure.

Cylinder block construction for V-type engines

A two-cylinder engine comprises a first cylinder and a second cylinder adapted to perform explosions at such timing that an interval from explosion in the first cylinder to explosion in the second cylinder becomes shorter than an interval from the explosion in the second cylinder to the explosion in the first cylinder, a single carburetor, and an intake manifold having an intake passage communicating with the carburetor and first and second branch passages branched from the intake passage and communicating with the respective cylinders. The intake passage and the branch passages are arranged such that an angle formed between an axis of the intake passage and an axis of the first branch passage becomes smaller than an angle formed between the axis of the intake passage and an axis of the second branch passage.

Two-cylinder engine

An engine and power units employing the engine are provided which include a crankshaft oriented vertically and operatively connected to the engine, a liquid-cooled radiator arranged above the engine substantially perpendicular to the crankshaft, and a cooling fan interposed between the engine and the radiator and operatively connected to the crankshaft. A muffler for work vehicle V-type internal combustion engines is disclosed, which is mounted in a horizontal sideway position, with its axis placed perpendicularly with the longitudinal vehicle axis, kept a proper distance from the chassis or vehicle body so that it is disposed in full exposure to the atmosphere for proper cooling. A pair of spaced inlet ports are provided in the muffler, at locations adjacent to opposite ends thereof for receiving the exhaust gases from the engine through a pair of parallely extending, parallel exhaust pipes directly interconnected between the combustion chambers of the two cylinders and the muffler inlet ports, without using the conventional intermediate flexible corrugated connectors.

An improved horizontal type radiator is disclosed in which the top wall of a header tank, into which a bank of radiator tubes are opened, is externally raised into an annular bulge formed to encircle an upper pipe hole bored in the wall through which a water filling pipe is inserted into the header tank forming an annular space about the inserted lower end of the pipe. Also, the bottom wall of the header tank is outwardly bulged into an annular bulge formed to encircle a lower pipe hole bored in the wall through which a water passage pipe is inserted into the header tank forming an annular space about the inserted end portion of the water passage pipe. With this arrangement, in operation when the water flows from the radiator tubes into the header tank, the water has limited chance of entraining air within the header tank, since the upper annular space in which air may possibly be entrained offers only a minimum contact surface of air with the water. Thus, deterioration of performance, abnormal noise and vibration in the system as can be brought about by the entrance of air can be obviated. Furthermore, when the radiator has to be emptied for maintenance or storage, almost all the inside water can be expelled, except for a very little amount that might be left undrained within the small lower annular space. Thus, long-term storage of a radiator is possible, without corrosion.

Horizontal type radiator for engines

An overhead valve engine including a bore for receiving a push rod for actuating a suction valve and a bore for receiving a push rod for actuating a discharge valve. Blowby gas is introduced into one of the bores from a crank chamber and supplied to the other bore via a rocker arm chamber to lubricate the push rods with oil mist in the blowby gas. After lubricating the push rods, the blowby gas is released via the breather gas from the engine.
