A tape cartridge is configured to include a cartridge case, a hub, around which a magnetic tape is wound around and is housed in the cartridge case rotatably, and a drive apparatus for driving the hub to rotate, the drive apparatus being arranged between a bottom portion of the hub and the cartridge case.

Tape cartridge

A tape cartridge that has a clamp force to a block body and that secures a leader tape to a leader block is provided. Nail portions () formed on the outer surface sides of a pair of leg portions () of a clamper (') are secured to securing grooves () formed on side walls of a assembling concave portion () of a block body () to secure the block body () and the clamper (&#x2032;). At this point, with concave grooves () and a reinforcement rib () formed on an inner surface side of a base portion () that composes the clamper (&#x2032;) in the elongation direction of the leg portionsand. Thus, when the clamper (&#x2032;) is pushed, it can be prevented from being damaged and a desired clamp force can be obtained.

A plurality of reference planes () formed between a chucking gear () and an outer peripheral rib () formed at an outer peripheral side of this chucking gear () are provided separately from the outer peripheral rib (). And the reference plane () is formed with edge planes of each of a first rib () extending toward a circumference and a second rib () extending toward a direction crossing the first rib (). According to this arrangement, a volume at a portion constituting the reference plane () is made smaller, occurrence of a sink after a resin is hardened is suppressed, and molding quality of the flange unit () is improved so that straight runnability of the magnetic tape at high speed running and reliability in recording/reproducing operation are improved.

In a tape cassette, an erroneous erasing preventive or write protect device includes a plurality of discriminating detectable portions provided in a cassette body or casing and a discriminating plug for opening and closing at least one of the discriminating detectable portions. The discriminating detectable portions are formed collectively in a single indented part with no separating walls.

A tape cassette includes a shell, first and second bosses arranged on the inner surface of the shell, and a prism mounted on the inner surface of the shell and formed with first and second holes and having an optical axis which corresponds to an optical axis of light emitted from a tape-position sensor of a drive. The first and second bosses are arranged through the first and second holes. When the first and second bosses contact the inner peripheral surfaces of the first and second holes, a first clearance between the first boss and the first hole and a second clearance between the second boss and the second hole is produced in the opposite direction of the first and second bosses with respect to the optical axis of the prism.
