A system for identifying and quantifying a fluid in a gas-oil separation plant conduit includes a first wellhead and a second wellhead, a first flowline, a first prospector spool apparatus and a second prospector spool apparatus, a header, and a collection point. The first and the second prospector spool apparatus each include a porous layer with a prospector molecule. The prospector molecule has chemical affinity for oil, gas, or water, and is configured to diffuse into fluid flow. A method includes providing a system, producing a first fluid from a first well and a second fluid from a second well, flowing the first fluid through the first prospector spool apparatus and the second fluid through the second prospector spool apparatus, allowing the first fluid and the second fluid to commingle, collecting a sample of and analyzing the commingled fluid to provide a quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Advanced flow rate measurement using chemical prospector of oil and gas producers

The well system includes a casing and production tubing and a control unit that can receive measurements of temperature and pressure of fluid in the tubing-casing annulus (TCA). A subsurface safety valve (SSSV) connected to the tubing can switch to an open or closed state in response to a change in pressure of the fluid. An expected thermal expansion or contraction of the TCA fluid is calculated based on the received measurements, and the control unit determines, based on the expected thermal expansion or contraction and on a calculated TCA volume, a volume necessary to be added to or released from the TCA to maintain the fluid within an optimal pressure range. The control unit can also receive an indication of an emergency condition and transmit a signal to activate a release valve to release from the TCA a volume of fluid sufficient to cause the SSSV to close.

Subsurface safety valve system and method

A system includes a sleeved valve disposed within a casing string. The sleeved valve has a first cement port configured to open and close to an annulus and a first opening. The first opening and the first cement port are hydraulically connected within the sleeved valve. The system further includes a tool made of a tubular body having an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the casing string. The tool includes a tool orifice and a cement injection needle in hydraulic communication with the tool orifice. The cement injection needle fits inside the first opening and, upon entering the first opening, a first hydraulic connection is created between the tool orifice and the first cement port.

A device for generating a flow of crude oil from a plurality of hydrocarbon reservoirs to a surface location, including a set of isolation devices arranged to, at least partially, hydraulically isolate a set of segments of a wellbore traversing each of the plurality of hydrocarbon reservoirs. The device further includes a trap that receives a flow of crude oil from the plurality of hydrocarbon reservoirs and generates a comingled crude oil, and a set of conduits arranged to convey the flow of crude oil from each of the plurality of hydrocarbon reservoirs to the trap, and a blending device that blends the comingled crude oil to produce a blended crude oil. The device further includes a conduit arranged to convey the comingled crude oil from the trap to the blending device, and a conduit arranged to convey the blended crude oil to the surface location.
