A moving picture suitable for display on a mobile telephone is displayed comparatively quickly. When a moving picture is requested, a leading segment of the moving picture is converted. The leading segment has an amount of data which, after the conversion, is less than the amount of data that is displayable on the mobile telephone that issued the request. A succeeding segment, which can be converted while the leading segment is being transmitted to the mobile telephone and viewed by the user of the mobile telephone, is converted. If there is a request for the succeeding segment after the leading segment is viewed, the conversion of the succeeding segment will be finished by the time of the request for succeeding segment. As a result, the succeeding segment can be transmitted to the mobile telephone quickly, and it can be viewed rapidly.

In principle, an I-frame is inserted every 50 frames and other frames are made P-frames. If the maximum amount of data that can be received by a terminal device to which a transmission is to be made is 300 KB, then frames up to a 144frame for which the amount of data after compression will not exceed 300 KB is adopted as a first partitioned moving picture file. Since the 145frame is the leading frame of the next partitioned moving picture file, it is made an I-frame. Frames from the 145frame to a 289frame are made a second partitioned moving picture file, and frames from a 290frame to a 411frame are made a third partitioned moving picture file. Since the leading frame of a partitioned moving picture file represents one complete frame, the moving picture can be reproduced and the number of partitions can be reduced.

An electronic file browsing system includes an electronic file delivery device and a file processing server. An input apparatus reads a patient ID from an ID card and transmits it to a computer. On the basis of the patient ID, the computer obtains corresponding patient information containing a photograph of the patient's face and the patient's name, from a medical database, and then transmits the patient information to the digital camera together with the patient ID. The digital camera displays the patient information to enable confirmation of the patient to be photographed. After the patient has been confirmed, the patient ID is filled in a header part of an image file for the image photographed using the digital camera, and the image file is transmitted to the medical database or the like. Thus, the input of the identification information input before photographing and the subject to be photographed can be easily confirmed.

Commands regarding printing of a plurality of types are stored in a non-volatile memory of a digital still camera and in a non-volatile memory of a printer. With regard to print processing for which the digital still camera does not possess the command, the digital still camera is made to function as a client and the printer as a server, whereby the print processing is executed by a user-interface export model.

A print system comprises a digital camera and a printer. The digital camera photographs a subject and produces image data. Print data including print-setting data and printing data is produced from the image data and print setting information. The digital camera is provided with a high-speed radio I/F and a low-speed radio I/F. The printer is also provided with a high-speed radio I/F and a low-speed radio I/F. The setting data is transferred from the digital camera to the printer through the low-speed radio I/F. The printing data is transferred from the digital camera to the printer through the high-speed radio I/F. The printer prints an image of the subject on the basis of the print data transferred from the digital camera to the printer.

A data transmitting device transmits a print file showing file names of image files and print conditions to a data receiving device, and the data receiving device stores the received print file in a storage medium. Then, the data receiving device requests one of the image files from the data transmitting according to the file names shown in the print file, and the data transmitting device transmits the one of the image files to the data receiving device in response to the request. The data receiving device stores the one of the image files in a storage medium and prints the image in the print condition shown in the print file, and the data receiving device and the data transmitting device repeat the steps for each of the image files.
