There is provided a communication system () such as an ATM-PON including a station-side unit () having a point-to-multipoint message generating unit (A) and a group designation message generating unit (B) and subscriber-side units (-to-N: N is a natural number) each having a point-to-multipoint message processing unit (A) and a state control unit (B). The station-side unit () sends a group designating message to some of the subscriber-side units (-=1 to N), thereby to designate some of the plurality of the subscriber-side units as a component constituting a group of units which are to receive a point-to-multipoint message, and only the subscriber-side units (-) controls to bring the reception and the processing on the point-to-multipoint message to a valid status. With this arrangement, only specified components constituting a group of units can be made to receive the point-to-multipoint message. Thus, it becomes possible to avoid unexpected erroneous operation which can be caused if information specific to a vendor of some of the subscriber-side units (-) is sent to all of the subscriber-side units. Moreover, it becomes possible to provide information to the specified components constituting a group of units within a very short period of time.

Communication system, method of processing message in communication system, and station-side unit and subscriber-side unit

In an information transceiver system for transmitting/receiving specific information, an information transmission device transmits a key message in which a specific information cipher key is ciphered with a usual key, and transmits to a destination information reception device a cipher message in which specific information is ciphered with the specific information cipher key. The information reception device deciphers a specific information cipher key included in a key message with a usual key, and deciphers with the specific information cipher key the cipher message following the key message. Also, in the presence of a plurality of destination information reception devices, the information transmission device provides to the information reception devices setting information of broadcast setting information of a unicast, a broadcast, or the like, cipher setting information, vendor setting information, group setting information, or the like.

Information transceiver system

A pointer processing apparatus in an SDH transmission system used to serially conducting a pointer process on inputted multiplex data has an address generating unit for allocating an address to each channel of the multiplex data, a RAM for holding an information group obtained by a pointer extracting process and a pointer process, and RAM controlling unit for controlling a sequence of an operation to write-in/read-out the RAM to serially conduct the pointer process on the received multiplex data, thereby largely decreasing the circuit scale, the power consumption, the number of distributions and the like. A POH terminating operation process is conducted in a POH terminating operation process unit, and an obtained result of the POH terminating operation is stored in a storage area for a corresponding channel of a storage unit, whereby the POH terminating operation process can be conducted without separating a multiplex signal into channels. By conducting the POH terminating operation process on the multiplex signal without separating the multiplex signal into channels, a scale and a power consumption of an apparatus can be largely decreased.
