A tool holder holds a cutting tool that cuts a workpiece while revolving about a rotational axis. The tool holder has a fixed part and a cutting part. The fixed part is held by a main shaft of a machine tool. The cutting part is provided integrally with the fixed part and has an asymmetric shape with respect to the rotational axis. The cutting tool is attached to the cutting part. The cutting part has a one-side part and an other-side part. The one-side part has a largest protruding amount from the rotational axis in the cutting part when viewed from an axial direction. The other-side part is located on a side of the rotational axis opposite to the one-side part. A bulk density of the one-side part is smaller than a bulk density of the other-side part.

Metallic electrode forming method and semiconductor device having metallic electrode

A highly accurate, long-life grindstone for shaping a gear and a method of fabricating the grindstone, without depending on the accuracy of form of a base metal and without using a special grinding machine or a special lapping machine, are disclosed. A super-abrasive layer () of a predetermined thickness is fixedly attached on the outer periphery of a body portion () of the base metal () formed in a cylinder solid. The super-abrasive layer () is metal-bonded, and has the outer periphery thereof formed with a toothed portion () in the shape of the teeth of an external gear by electric discharge machining.

Gear-shaping grindstone and method of fabricating the same

In a machine tool by pulse drive of a hydraulic system, a piston of a hydraulic cylinder is connected with a table, and an outflow valve and an inflow valve, which form a pair, are respectively connected with a right and a left hydraulic chamber. When the feed table is moved to the right, for example, control is conducted so that the valve-opening period of one valve can be a portion in the middle of the valve-opening period of the other valve. Since a portion of pressure in the hydraulic chamber is canceled, an effective pressure, the pulse width of which is narrow, remains. Accordingly, even in the case where a common inexpensive electromagnetic valve is used, it is possible to accomplish a smooth feed motion.

A gear grinding machine and a gear grinding method, in which a gear-shaped grinding stone is caused to engage a gear-like workpiece and one of the gear-shaped grinding stone and the gear-like workpiece is reciprocated relatively to the other in axial direction thereby to grind the tooth flanks of the workpiece, are disclosed. The rotational resistance is applied by a brake unit to the rotationally driven side. The grinding resistance and the rotational resistance interfering with the relative reciprocal motion are detected by torque sensors and input to a control unit, the average value of each of the signals is compared with a reference value by an arithmetic unit and, in the case where there is a difference between the average value and the reference value, the rotational resistance is changed by activating the brake unit. Thus, a high machining accuracy can be maintained even when the sharpness of the grinding stone is reduced.
