A hemostatic material as a high-performance medical material is described, which is capable of stopping bleeding in short time and is easy to handle and produce. The hemostatic material contains a nano-fiber that contains: a polymer, and a polypeptide having a peptide fragment represented by formula (1):-(Pro-Y-Gly)-&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein Y represents hydroxyproline or proline, and n represents an integer ranging from 5 to 9000.

A polymer electrolyte fiber having a high molecular weight is produced with ease by an electrospinning method. In an electrospinning method which comprises applying a voltage to a solution of a polymer electrolyte to allow a jet of the solution to spurt, forming a polymer fiber, the voltage applied to the solution of the polymer electrolyte is a voltage having the opposite polarity to the charge of molecular chains of the polymer electrolyte in the solution, and the voltage is applied to increase the viscosity of the solution to be higher than that of the solution before applying the voltage, allowing the solution to spurt.

It is intended to provide a method of preparing a decellularized soft tissue whereby swelling after an ultrahigh pressure treatment can be inhibited, etc. The above-described method of preparing a decellularized soft tissue comprises the application step wherein an ultrahigh hydrostatic pressure is applied to an isolated soft tissue in a medium to thereby disrupt cells in the soft tissue, and the removal step wherein the disrupted cells are removed. As the medium, use is made of an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble polysaccharide such as dextran.

Method of preparing decellularized soft tissue, graft and culture material

The crosslinking agents and condensing agents that have been employed in biological adhesives and in treating medical devices such as cardiac valves are non-natural compounds synthesized artificially. Thus, they are not metabolized in vivo and exhibit toxicity to living bodies. These compounds are thus used only in a restricted amount and for limited purposes in the clinical sites. The present invention provides a biological low-molecular-weight derivative obtained by modifying carboxyl groups of a biological low-molecular-weight compound with N-hydroxysuccinimide, N-hydroxysulfosuccinimide, or a derivative thereof and a crosslinked high-molecular-weight product obtained by crosslinking various high-molecular-weight compounds with this derivative.
