A non-woven fabric which is excellent in thermal resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal dimensional stability for applications exposed to high temperature circumstance and has an extremely large surface area and exhibit an excellent filter performance is obtained. The non-woven fabric is composed of polyimide fibers which are obtained by polycondensation of at least an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid and an aromatic diamine having a benzoxazole structure and have a fiber diameter in the range of 0.001 &#x3bc;m to 1 &#x3bc;m. The non-woven fabric is obtained by the steps of preparing a polyamic acid by polycondensation of an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid and an aromatic diamine having a benzoxazole structure, and electro-spinning the polyamic acid to form a polyimide precursor non-woven fabric; and imidizing a polyimide precursor fiber bundle.

The present invention provides a fiber having a nano-order fiber diameter, which is produced by without a process of dehydration and cyclization by a heat treatment after fiber spinning and has excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength, and a non-woven fabric composed of the fiber, and discloses the polyamide-imide fiber and the non-woven fabric having an average fiber diameter of from 0.001 &#x3bc;m to 1 &#x3bc;m and also discloses the process for producing threrof. An oriented syndiotactic polystyrene-based film composed of an oriented film made of a syndiotactic styrene polymer and an adhesiveness-improving layer formed from a specific water-dispersible resin on at least one surface of the oriented film, which is excellent in the tight adhesion between the oriented film and the adhesiveness-improving layer, the adhesion between the adhesiveness-improving layer and an ink layer or laminate layer applied thereon, economical efficiency, recyclability, and environmental compatibility in production. It is particularly preferable that the film be produced by applying the aqueous dispersion of the water-dispersible resin on unstretched or uniaxially stretched film to form the adhesiveness-improving layer, stretching the obtained laminate uni- or bi-axially at least one time, and then heat-treating the resulting laminate.

Oriented syndiotactic polystyrene-base film

A film of the present invention includes, as its main component, an aliphatic polyester whose primary repeating unit is represented by a general formula &mdash;O&mdash;CHR&mdash;CO&mdash; (where R denotes H or an alkyl group having a carbon number of 1-3). A three-dimensional surface roughness SRa of at least one side of the film is about 0.01 &mgr;m to about 0.1 &mgr;m. PCC value denoting the number of projections on the film per a unit of area along a mean roughness plane and the three-dimensional surface roughness SRa satisfy the following relationship: PCC value&lE;7000-45000&times;SRa.

Aliphatic polyester film and gas barrier film

It is an object of the present invention to overcome the problem of fibrillation which is a drawback found in solvent-spun regenerated cellulosic fibers and to thereby provide high-quality regenerated cellulosic fibers. The regenerated cellulosic fibers are produced by the use of a spinning dope of cellulose dissolved in a solvent containing N-methylmorpholine N-oxide under the conditions that the average degree of polymerization of cellulose contained in the spinning dope is held to 400 or lower and 5% to 30% by weight of the cellulose is adjusted to a degree of polymerization of 500 or higher. Thus a pseudo-liquid-crystalline phenomenon can be allowed to occur in the stretched filaments during spinning, so that the resulting regenerated cellulosic fibers have improved resistance to fibrillation as well as improved dyeability and feeling.

Process for producing regenerated cellulosic fibers

An aliphatic polyester film comprising, as a main component, a polylactic acid having a reduced viscosity (&eegr;sp/C) of not less than 0.50 dl/g and not more than 2.50 dl/g, wherein the film has a thermal shrinkage in the longitudinal direction at 120&deg; C. of not more than 5.0% is provided. The aliphatic polyester film of the present invention is provided which is useful as a packaging film and an adhesive tape, superior in hand tearability, twist retention, processability and film forming property, and which is biodegradable when placed in a natural environment.
