Provided is a novel method whereby an amide compound can be produced by highly stereoselectively and efficiently performing amidation between a plurality of amino acids and/or peptides. A compound of general formula (3) is synthesized by forming an amide bond between the carboxyl group on the right side of general formula (1) in a compound represented thereby and the amino group on the left side of general formula (2) in a compound represented thereby, in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst and a silylating agent [in formulae (1), (2) and (3), each symbol has the same meaning as defined in claims]. 

Method for producing amide compound

Provided is a novel method for producing amide compounds at high stereochemical selectivities. The method according to the present invention for producing amide compounds is provided with an amidation step for reacting, in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal compound, an amino compound with an aminoester compound represented by general formula (1) to amidate the ester group in the aminoester compound.

Novel intermediates, i.e., N-(2S-(2-propenyl)octanoyl)-(1S)-(&minus;)-2, 10-camphorsultam, N-(2S-(2-propynyl)octanoyl)-(1S)-(&minus;)-2,10-camphorsultam and N-(2R-(2-propyl)octanoyl)-(1S)-(&minus;)-2,10-camphorsultam; processes for the preparation of the intermediates; and processes for the preparation of optically active 2S-(2-propenyl)octanoic acid, 2S-(2-propynyl)octanoic acid and 2R-propyloctanoic acid by using the same. Optically active 2R-propyloctanoic acid equivalent or superior to that prepared by the process of the prior art in optical purity can be efficiently prepared in shorter reaction steps.

A thiophosphate flame retardant represented by (R.sub.1 S).sub.3 P.dbd.O, wherein R.sub.1 is aryl, alkaryl, or aralkyl, is added to a non-aqueous solvent to the extent of approximately 1/10-1/100 of a carbonate type solvent which is the main component of an electrolyte, to provide a lithium ion secondary cell solvent offering improved fire-retarding properties without much change of electrolyte composition. In this way, the boiling point can be raised and flame retarding properties can be conferred with almost no increase in the viscosity of the electrolyte.

A process is provided for the preparation of an .alpha.-tocopherol derivative represented by the following formula (VII): ##STR1## wherein n stands for 0 or an integer of from 1 to 5. According to the process, trimethylhydroquinone and a particular allyl alcohol derivative or a specific alkenyl alcohol are subjected to a condensation reaction in the presence of a fluorosulfonate [M(RSO.sub.3).sub.3 ], a nitrate [M(NO.sub.3).sub.3 ] or a sulfate [M.sub.2 (SO.sub.4).sub.3 ], wherein M represents a scandium, yttrium or lanthanide atom, and R represents a fluorine atom, a fluorinated lower alkyl group, or an aryl group which may be substituted by one or more fluorine atoms. The lanthanide atom means a lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium or lutetium atom.

Process for the preparation of .alpha.-tocopherol derivatives
