A light-emitting element having excellent light-emitting properties and with which it is possible to emit blue light at a high luminance for a long period of time, and an iridium complex for realizing the same. The light-emitting element has an external quantum efficiency of at least 5% and a light emission maximum wavelength &#x3bb; max of no more than 500 nm. Further, there is provided a light-emitting element including a light-emitting layer or a plurality of organic compound layers having the light-emitting layer, with at least one of the compound layers including at least one kind of a compound having a partial structure represented by the general formula K-0. In the general formula K-0, Rto Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, provided that if Ris a fluorine atom, Ris not a hydrogen atom. 

Light-emitting element and iridium complex

The invention provides an organic electroluminescent device having at least an organic compound layer provided between a pair of electrodes. The organic electroluminescent device has at least a polymer comprising a metal complex containing a tri- or higher-dentate ligand in the polymer molecule. The metal complex preferably contains a tetra- or higher-dentate ligand in the polymer molecule. At least one of the ligands is preferably a chain. The metal complex preferably contains a transition metal ion or a rare earth metal ion. The metal complex preferably contains a nitrogen atom in its complex structure. Further, the polymer preferably contains the metal complex in its main chain or its side chain.

Organic electroluminescent device

An organic electroluminescence element including an organic layer including a light-emitting layer disposed between a pair of electrodes, wherein the light-emitting layer contains at least one hole transporting light-emitting material and at least one electron-transporting host material, and a concentration of the hole transporting light-emitting material in the light-emitting layer decreases from an anode side toward a cathode side.

An organic electroluminescent device comprising a pair of electrodes and a light emitting layer, a hole transport layer containing a hole transporting material, and an electron transport layer provided between the pair of electrodes wherein, the light emitting layer contains at least two host materials and at least one red phosphorescent material, and the hole transporting material in the hole transport layer has a small ionization potential than the two host materials in the light emitting layer.

Light emitting element and azole compound

Organic electroluminescent element having a luminescent layer and a buffer layer adjacent thereto

The invention provides an organic electroluminescent device including an organic compound layer provided between a pair of electrodes. The organic compound layer has at least a luminescent layer. The luminescent layer has at least a metal complex containing a tri- or higher-dentate ligand and plurality of host compounds. The metal complex is preferably a metal complex capable of obtaining light emission from a triplet exciton. The ligand of the metal complex is preferably chained or cyclic. Further, an ionization potential of the metal complex is preferably larger than a minimum value out of ionization potentials of the plurality of host compounds.

An organic electroluminescent device comprising: a pair of electrodes; and at least one organic layer between the pair of electrodes, the at least one organic layer between the pair of electrodes, the at least one organic layer including a luminescent layer, wherein the luminescent layer contains at least one electron injection/transport compound, at least one hole injection/transport compound, and at least one green or blue phosphorescent compound; and the electron injection/transport compound and the hole injection/transport compound each has a minimum triplet exciton energy value which is equal to or more than that of the green or blue phosphorescent compound.

The present invention provides an organic electroluminescent element including, between an anode and a cathode, at least a luminescent layer and an adjacent layer that is adjacent to the cathode side of the luminescent layer, wherein the luminescent layer contains a phosphorescent material and a host material, the adjacent layer contains an electron transport material and a hole transport material, and the electron affinity Ea (HT) of the hole transport material and the electron affinity Ea (ET) of the electron transport material satisfy the relation of 1 eV&#x2266;Ea (ET)&#x2212;Ea (HT)&#x2266;2.8 eV.
