A crimped conjugated fiber having a cross-sectional configuration wherein: a cross section of the fiber comprises at least a portion (a) comprising a propylene polymer (A) and a portion (b) comprising a propylene polymer (B), the mass ratio of the portion (a) and the portion (b) is in the range of 10:90 to 55:45, the propylene polymer (A) has Mz/Mw (A) and the propylene polymer (B) has Mz/Mw (B) wherein the difference thereof is in the range of 0.30 to 2.2, the absolute value difference of the melting points of the propylene polymer (A) and the propylene polymer (B) is in the range of 0 to 10&#xb0; C., and the ratio of MFR (A) of the propylene polymer (A) to MFR (B) of the propylene polymer (B) is in the range of 0.8 to 1.2. A nonwoven fabric of crimped conjugated fiber is also provided.

Crimped conjugated fiber and nonwoven fabric comprising the same

The present invention provides a crimped conjugated fiber having a crimpable cross-sectional configuration wherein a cross section of the fiber comprises at least two portions: a portion (a) and a portion (b); the portion (a) comprises a propylene polymer (A) and the portion (b) comprises a propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin random copolymer (B); the propylene polymer (A) has Mz/Mw(A) and the propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin random copolymer (B) has Mz/Mw(B) wherein the difference thereof is in the range of 0.10 to 2.2; and the propylene polymer (A) has a melting point [Tm(A)] and the propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin random copolymer (B) has a melting point [Tm(B)] wherein the difference thereof exceeds 10&#xb0; C. The present invention also provides a non-woven fabric comprising the crimped conjugated fiber.

A mechanical fastening system having an engaging component and a receiving component. The receiving component has a first bond line, a second bond line, a bond zone, and a plurality of consecutive sweep regions. The second bond line is disposed adjacent to the first bond line such that a portion of the second bond line overlaps a portion of the first bond line. The bond zone circumscribes the first bond line and the second bond line. The plurality of consecutive sweep regions are disposed within the bond zone. At least one sweep region includes a portion of both the first bond line and the second bond line, and the remaining sweep regions include at least a portion of the first or the second bond lines. The receiving component has a bond ratio greater than or equal to about 1 and less than or equal to about 20.

Fastening system

A nonwoven web is provided. The nonwoven web contains a side-by-side composite fiber having crimps. The composite fiber contains first and second propylene polymers. The nonwoven web contains a bonded portion that contains a bonding pattern containing zigzag unit patterns. The zigzag unit patterns are continuous and substantially parallel with a first direction and are disposed in a second direction at predetermined intervals. A triangle formed by adjacent three contact points of a first diagonal line and a second diagonal line of the unit pattern contains a part of the unit pattern that is adjacent to the triangle in the second direction.

It is an object of the present invention to develop a polypropylene nonwoven fabric which is excellent in both of initial hydrophilicity and long-lasting hydrophilicity, that is, which is excellent in initial hydrophilicity that the nonwoven fabric exhibits hydrophilicity in a short time after it is produced and long-lasting hydrophilicity that the nonwoven fabric recovers hydrophilicity in a short time even if it is subjected to heat treatment. The present invention provides fibers of a propylene copolymer composition which comprises 100 parts by weight of a propylene/&#x3b1;-olefin random copolymer having a melting point (Tm) of 125 to 155&#xb0; C. and 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of a nonionic surface active agent comprising an alkylene oxide adduct of an aliphatic alcohol.

Fibers, nonwoven fabric and uses thereof

A non-woven fabric laminate that is excellent in strechability, flexibility, and bulkiness, and that is less sticky and is suitable for a mechanical fastening female material. The non-woven fabric laminate includes a mixed fiber spunbonded non-woven fabric and a non-woven fabric comprising a crimped fiber that is laminated on at least one face of the mixed fiber spunbonded non-woven fabric, which includes a continuous fiber of a thermoplastic elastomer (A) in the range of 10 to 90% by weight and a continuous fiber of a thermoplastic resin (B) in the range of 90 to 10% by weight (where (A)+(B)=100% by weight). The non-woven fabric laminate can be suitably used for a sanitary material and other materials. More specifically, there can be mentioned for instance an absorbent article such as a disposable diaper and a menstrual sanitary product as a sanitary material.

An extensible nonwoven fabric comprises a fiber comprising at least two olefin-based polymers. These olefin-based polymers are of the same kind and have different induction periods of strain-induced crystallization as measured at the same temperature and shear strain rate. A composite nonwoven fabric of the invention comprises at least one layer comprising the extensible nonwoven fabric.

Extensible nonwoven fabric and composite nonwoven fabric comprising the same

A fastening system includes an engaging component and a receiving component. The engaging component has a plurality of engaging elements capable of engaging the receiving component. The receiving component includes a nonwoven fabric having composite fibers, an embossed section, and a non-embossed section. The composite fibers are bonded together in the embossed sections. The composite fibers include a first propylene polymer and a second propylene polymer, wherein the first and second propylene polymers extend continually in a longitudinal direction and are arranged such that the second propylene polymer is associated with the first propylene polymer such that the composite fiber forms a crimp therein. The embossed sections have a plurality of zigzag unit patterns arranged in a machine direction which have a ratio of W/Win the range of about 0.5 to about 2.0.
