Connector with a partial connection preventing function

A connector includes a housing for receiving electrical terminals and a retainer for retaining the terminals in the housing. The retainer has a plate-shaped body and a pair of reinforcing wall portions that slidingly contact an outer surface of the housing. The reinforcing wall portions are at right and left ends of the plate-shaped body, respectively. When the retainer is placed at a temporary position on the housing and a pressing force is applied to only the one end of the plate-shaped body, only the pressed side of the reinforcing wall portion moves to a locking position. As a result, the plate-shaped body inclines with respect to the upper surface of the housing. At this time, the plate-shaped body and the reinforcing wall portion elastically stretch. This stretch generates an elastic restoring force that urges the plate-shaped body to become parallel with the upper surface of the housing. As a result, the other side of the reinforcing wall portion moves downward, and the retainer reaches the locking position on both sides.

Electrical connector having a housing and a retainer

A retainer is provided to increase a locking force of the retainer and to ensure an accurate detection of insufficient insertion. The retainer 30 is provided with locking struts 32 which can enter behind secondary locking portions 26 of terminals 20 in their proper insertion positions. A pair of projections 33 further project from the leading end of each locking strut 32. The two projections 33 are spaced such that a contact portion 21 of the terminal 20 can be held therebetween. If the retainer 30 is pushed to its full lock position after the terminals 20 are inserted, the locking struts 32 enter behind the secondary locking portions 26 while the projections 33 are holding the contact portions 21 therebetween. An engaging area of the retainer 30 with the terminals 20 is increased by providing the projections 33 and, accordingly, a locking force is increased. If the terminals 20 are left insufficiently inserted, the projections 33 at the leading ends of the locking struts 32 come into contact with the side surfaces of covers 22, thereby preventing any further entry of the retainer 30. Since a bulging distance of the retainer 30 is increased by providing the projections 33, the insufficient insertion of the terminals 20 can easily and accurately be detected.

Connector

In an electrical connector having a removable terminal retainer to hold the electrical terminals in place in a housing, a side surface of the housing is provided with a recess, and the retainer has a nose projecting into the recess. When shifting the retainer from its locking position so that the terminals can be removed or inserted, a lever action is achieved by engaging the front end of a tool with the nose of the retainer, the tool contacting the housing at a fulcrum point. The fulcrum point of the lever action is changed during the retainer removal action.

A connector block for injectors of an internal combustion engine having a bar-like body in which bar-like bus bars are arranged in a parallel attitude and embedded in resin. A core member includes bus bar slots in which the bus bars are placed in a desired attitude. Projections are positioned such that they butt against the inner wall of a mold cavity of a mold for resin molding. Holding-pin holes into which holding pins of the mold cavity are fitted so as to form a separation layer between the bus bars and the holding pins. The assembled core member is inserted into the mold cavity of the mold for resin molding, to be held thereby, and the core member is embedded in a resin to form a desired shape.

A connector is constructed to reduce a risk of malfunction or impairment of the connector due to the entrance of dust and/or external matter thereinto. The entrance of external matters into a receptacle 13 is prevented because an opening 16 of the receptacle 13 is normally kept closed by a cover 21 biased by a spring member 28. The cover 21 is temporarily opened against the biasing force of the spring member 28 during the insertion and withdrawal of the female connector housing 30.

A connector member for use in connecting electrical wiring is received by another connector part and has a housing body for receiving metal wiring terminals. In a recess of the housing having opposed side walls, there is a resilient locking arm having a head portion. The locking arm locks with another connector part and there are gaps formed between the head portion and the side walls. A terminal retainer is mounted on the housing for locking the metal terminals in place. To prevent a wire or other foreign body being trapped in the gaps between the arm and the side walls, the terminal retainer has a pair of gap blocking portions which, in its locked position, lie on opposite sides of the head portion of the locking arm so as to partially block these gaps.

Connector members

A releasable locking connector wherein the terminals are locked in place by a retainer which has an engagement position and a release position. In the former, a portion of the retainer bears against the rear of the terminals so that they cannot be removed. Also, a lance is provided on the terminals which bears against a stop surface of the housing. To permit removal of the terminal, a tool opening is provided so that the lance can be depressed to a position in which it no longer abuts the stop surface. When the retainer is in the engagement position, a closure thereon overlies the tool opening, thereby preventing entry of unwanted foreign material.

Releasable locking connector

Opposed inner surfaces of lower and upper casings making up a connection box are flat, and wire arrangement grooves are formed in the inner surfaces. Insertion holes communicate with the wire arrangement grooves in specified positions and are open to the outer surfaces of the casings. A wire is laid into the wire arrangement grooves and is pressed into the slots of the cramping terminals mounted in the insertion holes. The tabs on the cramping terminals project from the outer surfaces of the casings. The casings are held together by nuts and bolts or other devices after the flat inner surfaces are in contact with each other.

Electrical connection box

A lever 30 is mounted on a female connector housing 20 such that a part of the lever 30 is accommodated in a receptacle 11 of a male connector housing 10 together with a female connector housing 20 in a connected state of the male and female connector housings 10, 20. Thus, a movement of the lever in its opening direction is restricted by an outer wall of the receptacle 11, eliminating the need to provide a protection wall for preventing the disengagement of the lever 30 in the connected state. This results in a reduced size of the lever connector. Further, the lever 30 is formed in its outer surfaces with cam grooves 33 in the form of recesses. Thus, a mold for the lever 30 can be pulled outward, enabling the simplification of the construction thereof.

Lever connector

To provide a small electrical connection box in which wires can be arranged with an improved degree of flexibility and which can cope with complicated wiring, the wires are arranged at two vertical planes in the space defined by the upper casing and the lower casing and are electrically connected to cramping terminals which are secured in the casings.

An electrical connector comprises a housing, a plurality of terminals mounted within the housing, and a connector plate for electrically connecting the terminals. The connector plate comprises a support member and an elongate plate-like member projecting from the support member. The housing is formed with an elongate slit for receiving the plate-like member, and with connection member for detachable engagement with complementary connection member formed on the support member. The arrangement is such that, when the connection member of the support member and the housing are engaged to fix the connector plate to the housing, the plate-like member extends into the slit and into electrical contact with each of the terminals.
