A table saw includes a table for placing a workpiece thereon. A saw unit may be vertically movably supported on the table and may have a saw blade mounted thereon. A battery-driven motor may be mounted on the saw unit for rotatably driving the saw blade. A battery mounting device may be provided for mounting a battery on the table saw.

Slide compound saws () may include a table () defining a table surface. A saw unit () may be pivotable relative to the table surface. A first slide bar () may be slidably coupled to the table and may be disposed substantially in parallel with the table surface. The first slide bar may define a first sliding distance (S) of the saw unit in a direction substantially parallel to the table surface. A sliding device () may slidably couple the first slide bar to the saw unit. The sliding device may define a second sliding distance (S) of the saw unit in the direction substantially parallel to the table surface. Preferably, the saw unit can slide up to a distance Splus Sin the direction substantially parallel to the table surface.

A machining tool includes a table, an adjustable fence disposed on the table, a fixing device coupled to the fence and a lever operable by an operator. The fixing device can be operated to fix the fence in position or to permit the movement of the fence relative to the table by the operation of the lever. As a result, a tool is not needed to change the position of the fence relative to the table.

A miter circular saw includes a base on which a workpiece is placed, a tiltable saw blade assembly mounted on the base, and a work support fence that includes a fixed element with a first support surface and a movable element with a second support surface, both of which are mounted on the base for supporting the workpiece during cutting. The movable element is hinged to the top end of the fixed element to allow the movable element to pivot between a raised position, above the fixed element, and a lowered position. In the raised position, the movable element engages the fixed element so as to fix the movable element and prevent it from inadvertently falling rearward into the lowered position. In the raised position, the movable element places the second support surface flush with the first support surface of the fixed element. When the movable element is in the lowered position, the work support fence is sufficiently low to avoid interference with the locus of the saw blade assembly in its maximally tilted position.

A miter saw has a base on which a workpiece is placed, a miter saw unit substantially vertically pivotally mounted on the base, a drive supported by the miter saw unit for driving a rotary tool, a blade case mounted on the miter saw unit and partly covering the rotary tool so as to provide an exposed operational portion of the rotary tool, a safety cover pivotally mounted on the blade case for covering the exposed operational portion of the rotary tool, and an actuating link having a slot formed substantially the central portion thereof. One end of the actuating link is pivotally connected with the base, while the other end of the actuating link is engaged with the safety cover. A guide member is mounted on the blade case and is engaged with the slot of the actuating link. The safety cover is pivoted to uncover the exposed operational portion of the rotary tool in association with the movement of the engaging portion of the slot with the guide member as the miter saw unit is pivoted downwardly toward the base.
