A steering wheel having partially applied wooden outer covers, which can be produced without having the wooden outer covers scratched, and the like, and can be produced with high working efficiency, and a method for manufacturing the steering wheel are provided. Raw materials, from which wood members are formed, are attached at a rim portion of a core metal, and cores are formed in this state. Thereafter, the wood members are shaped from the raw materials. Further, resin pieces are attached in spaces between the wood members and the cores to limit displacement of the wood members. Then, the cores and the resin pieces are covered with covering portions. As described above, spaces are formed, and the cores are formed in a state in which the raw materials of the wood members are attached. This allows shaping of the wood members after formation of the cores. Since the wood members can be shaped after the cores are formed, even if the wood members are scratched while the cores are formed, the scratches can be removed when the wood members are shaped.

Steering wheel and method for manufacturing steering wheel

In order to provide a steering wheel in which the strength of a wooden member is enhanced and the appearance of the wooden member is improved, a steering wheel comprising: a substantially annular metal core; and a wooden member comprising a plurality of wooden pieces, the wooden pieces being formed from a pure wooden material and bonded together to surround a part or the whole of the metal core when mounted on the metal core; wherein the wooden pieces are formed from a single pure wooden material, and the wooden pieces that are bonded together are formed from adjacent sites of the single pure wooden material, is provided.

Steering wheel

In order to provide a steering wheel that can prevent chattering of a wooden member with respect to a metal core, a steering wheel comprising: an annular metal core, the metal core connecting to a vehicle; and a wooden member, the wooden member curving in a substantial arc corresponding to the metal core and having a passing hole formed therein, with the metal core passing through the passing hole; wherein a space is formed at, at least a portion of boundary between the metal core and an inner wall, forming the passing hole, of the wooden member, the space being for absorbing relative movement of the metal core and the wooden member, is provided.

An bag apparatus wherein an inflator portion is disposed at a steering column side, a bag portion is disposed at a steering wheel side and in a state in which the inflator portion and the bag portion are relatively rotatable by connecting means, gas which has been generated at the inflator portion is introduced to the bag portion side, and superior effects are achieved in that a space for providing the air bag apparatus at the steering wheel is reduced so as to improve the designing abilities, the mass of the air bag apparatus is decreased so as to improve the vibration characteristics, and a roll connector for transmitting a control signal is not required.

Air bag apparatus

A webbing retractor winds-up a webbing by a winding shaft. A lock ring rotates according to movement of the winding shaft. A rotational delay of the lock ring with respect to the winding shaft is generated when the webbing is rapidly drawn-out. The rotational delay of the lock ring causes a lock plate to prevent the webbing from being drawn-out. An engaging member is movable to a separated position where the engaging member is separated from the lock ring, and to an engaging position where the engaging member engages the lock ring to generate rotational delay. Further, the engaging member is urged in one of the direction of the separated position and the direction of the engaging position when the engaging member is separated from a neutral position disposed at an intermediate portion between the separated position and the engaging position. A moving member moves with the winding shaft and rotates. A guide member in the moving member guides the engaging member to an engaging waiting position positioned on an engaging position side with respect to a neutral position and the engaging member disengages the lock ring by moving the moving member according to movement of the winding shaft to rotate as the webbing is drawn-out. The guide member guides the engaging member to the engaging position by moving the moving member with the winding shaft to rotate as the webbing is retracted in a condition where the engaging member is positioned at the engaging waiting position.

Webbing retractor

Disclosed herein is a tension reducer suitable for use in a webbing retractor, which comprises a weak resilient spiral spring whose one end is connected to a webbing take-up spindle of the webbing retractor and which exerts an urging force in a webbing winding direction, a connecting member connected to the other end of the weak resilient spiral spring and disposed rotatably about the take-up spindle, a strong resilient spiral spring whose one end is connected to the connecting member and which exerts an urging force in the webbing winding direction greater than the urging force of the weak resilient spiral spring, a device for stopping the rotation of the connecting member in the webbing winding direction so as to avoid the exertion of the urging force of the strong resilient spiral spring on a webbing at the time that the webbing is pulled out of the take-up spindle to be fastened to an occupant, and a device disposed about the take-up spindle for controlling the degree of tightening of the windings of the weak resilient spiral spring so as to prevent the torque thereof from exceeding a predetermined range.

Tension reducer

The safety seat belt system comprises an emergency-locking type seat belt retractor (ELR) mounted within a tiltable backrest of a reclining seat. The ELR is mounted rotatably on a support shaft horizontally extending within the backrest and rigidly secured to the backrest frame in such a manner that the ELR is suspended vertically from the support shaft regardless of any change in the angle of the backrest. The ELR is locked to the support shaft by a releasable locking mechanism operated by an actuating mechanism which is preferably linked to the reclining adjustment lever of the backrest reclining mechanism.
