Studies have been made for the purpose of achieving both the improvement in the storage stability of a solution-polymerized diene rubber that is modified with an alkoxysilane compound and the improvement in the physical properties of the diene rubber when blended with silica. Thus, a production method whereby it becomes possible to produce a modified solution-polymerized diene rubber having good storage stability and high reactivity with silica is developed, by introducing several tens percent of a three blanched or four blanched component that has been coupled with a tin compound into a modified solution-polymerized diene rubber, then coagulating the resultant alkoxysilane modified diene rubber with steam and then drying the coagulated product. In addition, the physical properties of the rubber are further improved successfully by introducing a highly reactive structure to a polymerization initiation terminal of the rubber in the polymerization of the rubber using an alkyl lithium as a polymerization initiator.

In order to detect microwaves from radar type speed measurement devices and microwaves leaking out of reverse detectors without being detected by such reverse detectors, a microwave detector is provided with a super-heterodyne type reception circuit for cyclically performing reception operations to receive target microwave frequencies of prescribed microwave bands, the reception circuit including a first local oscillator which can carry out a fixed oscillation at a prescribed frequency or a sweep of a prescribed frequency range established slightly outside the frequency range of the local oscillator of a reverse detector, and a plurality of second local oscillators having different oscillation frequencies, whereby the reception circuit is able to receive microwaves in the target bands and microwaves leaking out of the local oscillator of a reverse detector.

A double superheterodyne type microwave detector is constructed from a reception antenna; a first local oscillator; a second local oscillator; reception means for detecting microwaves having prescribed frequencies based on signals obtained by carrying out a first mixing in which the output of the first local oscillator is mixed with the microwaves picked up by the antenna, and a second mixing in which the signals obtained from the first mixing are mixed with the output of the second local oscillator; judgement means for judging whether or not an actual microwave signal which forms a detection target has been detected by the reception means; alarm means for outputting an alarm when the judgement means judges an actual microwave signal to have been received by the reception means; and first control means for suspending the first mixing when the reception means detects a microwave signal having a prescribed frequency; wherein the judgement of whether or not the prescribed frequency microwave signal detected by the reception means is an actual microwave signal is carried out based on information obtained by the judgement means after the first mixing is suspended.

The controller sets one set of speeds from a plurality of different sets of speeds in accordance with the number of colors. Each set of speeds includes a speed of the carrier belt, a speed at which each of the image-forming sections forms a respective toner image of a corresponding color, and a speed of the fixing unit. The speed of the carrier belt, the speed at which each of the image-forming sections forms a respective toner image of a corresponding color, and the speed of the fixing unit of any one respective set of speeds are substantially equal to each other.

A color image forming apparatus provides the prolonged life of the photosensitive drums, carrier belt, and toner of the respective colors and improves the quality of the printed color image. A carrier belt transports a recording medium placed thereon so that the recording medium passes through a plurality of printing mechanisms which print images of different colors on the recording medium in superposition. Each printing mechanism prints an image of a corresponding color. The printing mechanism is adapted to be moved into its operative position where the photosensitive drum of the printing mechanism is in contact with the carrier belt to print the image on the recording medium, and into its non-operative position where the photosensitive drum of the printing mechanism is not in contact with the carrier belt. A controller receives print data from a host device such as a personal computer and checks each page of the print data to determine whether any one of a predetermined plurality of colors is missing in the page. If a particular color is missing in the print data, then the controller outputs an UP signal to a positioning mechanism for a corresponding printing mechanism. If the color is not missing, then the controller outputs a DOWN signal. The printing mechanism moves a corresponding printing mechanism into the operative position if the UP signal is received from the controller and into its operative position if the DOWN signal is received.

The controller controls the driving section in such a way that both the heating roller and the backup roller begin to rotate intermittently immediately after an electric power supply switch of the apparatus is turned on and heat generation from the heater is initiated, and subsequently begin to rotate continuously when the backup roller achieves one revolution by the intermittent rotation. Alternatively, the rotation speed of the heating roller and backup roller is gradually and continuously increased immediately after electric power is initiated and subsequently reach a constant speed.
