A hydrophilic polyester fiber is supplied with an aqueous mixed dispersion on the surface and made hydrophilic by being heated at 35&deg; C. or higher, and the aqueous mixed dispersion employed contains a polyester-polyether block copolymer composed of a polyester component and a polyether component and is stable at lower than 35&deg; C. and precipitates the polyester-polyether block copolymer when its dispersion state is broken by being heated to 35&deg; C. or higher.

A hydrophobic textile product of the present invention is obtained through graft polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated organic acid. The textile product characterized by: a graft polymerization rate of about 8 wt % or more; substantially no agglutination of a byproduct polymer from the graft polymerization process; a hygroscopicity of about 2.5 wt % or more under a 20&deg; C.&times;65% RH environment; and an ammonia deodorizing property.

The invention provides a highly stretchable fabric having an elongation percentage of 5 to 45% and a recovery percentage of elongation of at least 70% and comprising spun yarns serving at least as warps or wefts, the fabric being characterized in that the spun yarns contain two-component composite fibers comprising a highly shrinkable polyester component A and a polyester component B less shrinkable than the polyester component A, the composite fibers being so oriented that in the vicinity 5 of the crests of weaving crimps of the spun yarn, the polyester component A faces toward the inner side of the crimps. The invention also provides a process for producing the fabric. The fabric is excellent in stretchability and recovery from elongation and is capable of retaining its appearance and hand.

Highly stretchable fabrics and process for producing same

Potential bulky polyester associated bundles or yarns for woven or knitted fabric include spontaneously heat extensible multi-filament A and heat shrinkable multi-filament B. The associated bundles are interlaced at 20-100 interlaces/m. For multi-filament A, the following physical properties apply: &lt;3 denier as a single bundle; 20-80% denier ratio content in associated bundles, wet shrinkage at 100.degree. C. (SHW (A))=0-5%, dry shrinkage at 160.degree. C. (SHD (A))=-15-0%. The properties pertaining to multi-filament B include: fracture tenacity&gt;4 g/denier, denier ratio of 80-29% content in associated bundles, SHW (B)&gt;5-60%. Additionally, SHD (B)-SHD(A)&gt;5%. The invention also relates to processes for forming the bundles and for weaving the bundles into fabric.
