Provided is a horizontal step scroll compressor with which liquid compression can be effectively prevented even when starting up from a liquid migration state in which liquid refrigerant has migrated into the compressor while operation of the compressor is stopped. In this horizontal step scroll compressor, bypass ports, which divert pressure into a discharge chamber when the pressure in a pair of compression chambers reaches or exceeds a set pressure at an intermediate compression position between a suction cutoff position and the position communicating with a discharge port, are provided along the spiral direction of spiral wraps. Among these bypass ports, the opening area of the bypass ports that open into the first compression chamber, which includes the step parts in the gravity direction when a step part and a step part, and a step part and a step part, begin to engage each other, is greater than the opening area of the bypass port, which opens to the second compression chamber forming a pair with the first compression chamber.

A scroll compressor having an improved compression efficiency by optimizing a step mesh gap in an operating state is provided. The scroll compressor having a step-like shape has a step-mesh-gap set value occurring between step side surfaces of a connecting wall of a fixed scroll and a connecting edge of a revolving scroll and a step-mesh-gap set value occurring between step side surfaces of a connecting walls of the revolving scroll and a connecting edge of the fixed scroll, and a fixed-side set value for when the two move close together due to the revolving scroll tilting by receiving gas pressure during operation is set greater than that for when the two move apart.

Provided is a scroll compressor that is capable of three-dimensional compression, ensuring a required wrap strength while increasing a shoulder section height of a spiral wrap, and facilitating wrap processing. The scroll compressor includes shoulder sections at an end surface and a bottom surface of spiral wraps of a paired fixed scroll member and revolving scroll member and configured to be capable of three-dimensional compression in a circumferential direction and a height direction of the spiral wraps by setting a spiral wrap height of the spiral wraps further toward the outside of the shoulder sections greater than the spiral wrap height of the inward side, and wherein the shoulder sections provided on the end surface and the bottom surface at the spiral wrap are constructed of a plurality of shoulder sections, and the heights of the shoulder sections are set to heights in which base stresses at the shoulder sections are substantially equal.

A scroll compressor prevents the rotation of an orbiting scroll and reduces manufacturing cost. This scroll compressor has a housing, a fixed scroll having a first end plate and a first spiral wall body, an orbiting scroll having a second end plate and a second spiral wall body, rotation-preventing portions provided for at least one of the housing and the orbiting scroll, which allow the orbiting scroll to revolve while preventing the rotation thereof, a wall body shoulder portion formed along an upper edge of the second spiral wall body, and a step portion formed on the first end plate. In this scroll compressor, the shoulder portion and the step portion contact with and slide along each other, and a phase at which the shoulder portion is disposed to the center of the orbiting scroll is different from phases at which the rotation-preventing portions are disposed.

The present invention has as an object providing a scroll compressor that transmits rotation of the eccentric axle side end plate of the orbiting scroll to the involute wrap side end plate with good efficiency, and sufficiently presses the involute wrap side end plate continuously against the fixed scroll without causing friction with the seal member; in order to attain this object, the present invention provides a scroll compressor providing a fixed scroll comprising an end plate and an involute wrap provided on one face of the end plate, and an orbiting scroll comprising and end plate, an engagement part provided on one face of the end plate and accommodating an eccentric axle therein, and an involute wrap provided on the other face of the end plate and forming a plurality of compression chambers by the combination with the involute wrap of the fixed scroll, wherein the end plate of the orbiting scroll is divided along the axial direction thereof into an involute wrap side end plate providing an involute wrap and an eccentric axle side end plate providing the engagement part, and furthermore, wherein a transmission mechanism is provided that permits movement of this involute wrap side end plate in the axial direction with respect to the eccentric axle side end plate but prevents movement in the radial or peripheral directions, and transmits the orbital movement of the eccentric axle side end plate to the involute wrap side end plate.

In a horizontal scroll compressor, a compressor structure and an electric motor, both disposed in a hermetic housing, are coupled with each other through a rotating shaft extending substantially horizontally. Lubricating oil accumulated in the bottom of the hermetic housing is supplied to a thrust face of a supporting frame of the compressor structure. To spread enough lubricating oil over the thrust face and prevent seizure and scoring of the thrust face, the lubricating oil is accumulated in a central concave part of the frame, and oil paths are provided to lead the lubricating oil to the upper part of the thrust face of the frame and to discharge excess lubricating oil from the lower part of the thrust face.

A scroll compressor in which each of its stationary and swivel scrolls has at least one recess formed in the inner surface of its wrap adjacent to an area of wrap engagement or disengagement. The recess has an inclined edge extending at an angle to the end plate upon which each lap stands upright. The recess enables the wraps to have gradually changing lines of contact with each other along their heights to prevent undesirable noise or vibration during their engagement or disengagement.

A sparkplug having an improved antifouling performance and in which a decrease in insulation resistance is prevented, even if an electrically conductive material is deposited on the firing surface of the insulator of the sparkplug. In accordance with the invention, a coating of flourine oil containing elemental flourine or elemental fluorine plus elemental silicone is formed on at least the surface of the base of the firing leg of the porcelain insulator of the sparkplug surrounded by the inner surface of the combustion chamber side of the metal casing. Further, paraffin may be added to the solution of the coating. The coating may also be formed on the inner surface of the metal casing.

A sparkplug having an improved antifouling performance and in which a decrease in insulation resistance is prevented, even if an electrically conductive material is deposited on the firing surface of the insulator of the sparkplug. In accordance with the invention, a coating of a solution of silicone and paraffin is formed on at least the portion of the firing surface of the porcelain insulator which is surrounded by the inner surface of the combustion chamber side of the metal casing of the sparkplug. Preferably, the coating is also formed on the inner surface of the metal casing.
