An internal combustion engine with a supercharger comprises an internal combustion engine including a plurality of cylinders; an intake passage that supplies gas to the internal combustion engine; a turbocharger-type supercharger including a turbine portion having a plurality of exhaust gas introduction passages; and an exhaust passage including a plurality of connecting passages that connect the plurality of cylinders and the plurality of exhaust gas introduction passages, wherein exhaust gas discharged from the internal combustion engine flows through the exhaust passage. The internal combustion engine comprises a bridge passage that connects two or more of the plurality of connecting passages to each other; a branch passage connected to the bridge passage; and a first opening and closing device provided into the bridge passage to open and close the bridge passage.

Internal combustion engine with supercharger

An improved scroll type compressor is disclosed. A moveable scroll is eccentrically connected to a rotary shaft and opposed to a fixed scroll for forming a compression chamber. The moveable scroll performs an orbital movement about an axis of the rotary shaft without rotating about its own axis. With the orbital movement, the moveable scroll reduces the volume of the compression chamber and compresses coolant gas therein. A fixed wall is disposed adjacent to the moveable scroll on the opposite side from the fixed scroll. The fixed wall receives a reaction force of the compressed gas applied to the moveable scroll. First elements disposed between the fixed wall and the moveable scroll transmit the reaction force from the moveable scroll to the fixed wall. Second elements are disposed independently from the first elements between the fixed wall and the moveable scroll for determining the orbit of the moveable scroll.

Scroll type compressor having reaction force transmission and rotation

A mechanism for allowing the orbital movement of an orbiting scroll with respect to a fixed scroll in a scroll type compressor which prevents the orbiting scroll from rotating around its own axis is disclosed. The orbiting scroll is eccentrically attached to a rotary shaft supported by a housing that encases the fixed and orbiting scrolls. A compression chamber is defined by the interfitting between the orbiting scroll and the fixed scroll. During the course of the orbiting scroll's rotation around the center axis line of a rotary shaft, the volume of a compression chamber decreases as the rotation progresses. Refrigerant gas in the compression chamber is compressed in this manner as the constant volume of gas within the compression chamber decreases in size according to the progression of the rotating spiral member. A balancing weight disposed on the eccentric shaft compensates for dynamic unbalancing generated as the orbiting scroll makes an orbital movement due to the rotation of the rotary shaft. This balancing weight engages a bushing which supports the orbiting scroll. A mechanism for automatically adjusting the radius of the orbital movement is disposed between the rotary shaft and the balancing weight. A spring for restricting the shifting on the eccentric shaft of both the weight and the bushing in the thrust direction is disposed between the weight and the bushing.

Scroll type compressor having thrust regulation on the eccentric shaft

A scroll type compressor includes a fixed scroll having a fixed spiral element and a fixed end plate, and an orbiting scroll is revolvable without rotating itself in opposition to the fixed scroll. The orbiting scroll includes an orbiting spiral element and an orbiting end plate. A plurality of compression chambers, of which volumes are decreased in response to the revolution of the orbiting scroll, are defined between the scrolls. A discharge port opens to the discharge chambers. The thicknesses of initiating sections of the fixed and orbiting spiral elements are designed larger than those of remaining sections thereof. Sealing members having a spiral shape are slidably interposed between the fixed and orbiting end plates of the fixed and orbiting scrolls, and the initiating sections of the fixed and orbiting spiral elements are in opposition to the respective end plates. The cross sectional area of an initiating section of the sealing member, which is integrally movable with at least the orbiting scroll, is larger than that of remaining section thereof. The sealing member is capable of covering a part of the discharge port.

Sealing structure for scroll type compressor

A scroll type compressor has a stationary scroll (1) and a movable scroll (2) rotating around the former in an orbital manner, while forming volume variable sealed spaces therebetween to compress a coolant gas. To reduce a wall thickness of the scroll, an outer wall curve (E.sub.1.sup.+) of the scroll (1,2) is defined by the modification of a basic involute curve (D.sup.+) by reducing a certain value B.theta..sup.n) from a length (L.sub.0) of the respective involute line of the basic involute curve, which value is increased as the involute angle (.theta.) is developed, and an inner wall curve (E.sub.1.sup.-) is generated from the outer wall curve (E.sub.1.sup.+) by first transferring the respective point (p.sub.3, 4) on the outer wall curve (E.sub.1.sup.+) in the normal direction to the outer wall curve (E.sub.1.sup.+) at the respective point (p.sub.3, 4) by a distance (r) equal to a radius of the orbital circle (R) to form an intermediate curve (E.sub.1) and then symmetrically transferrring the respective point (p.sub.5) on the intermediate curve (E.sub.1) around the center (O.sub.1) of the basic circle (C.sub.1).

Scroll type compressor having gradually thinned wall thickness

A continuously variable capacity swash plate type refrigerant compressor having a cylinder block defining therein a plurality of front and rear cylinder bores arranged around an axis of rotation of a drive shaft supported in the cylinder block, front and rear refrigerant suction chambers in front and rear housings attached to the ends of the cylinder block, an angularly inclined swash plate mounted on the drive shaft to be integrally rotated therewith and to be pivotable about a pivoting center to change an angle of inclination thereof, double-headed pistons reciprocated in the front and rear cylinder bores by the rotation of the swash plate in such a manner that the top dead center of the pistons in the rear cylinder bores is constantly set at a fixed position, front and rear suction passageways to suck the refrigerant before compression into the front and rear suction chambers, and a suction reducer for reducing a suction of the refrigerant gas by the rear suction passageway during the small capacity operation of the compressor to thereby generate a pressure differential between the front and rear suction chamber and obtain a flow of the lubricant contained refrigerant gas from the front suction chamber toward the rear suction chamber, while lubricating movable elements at the front side of the compressor.

Continuously variable capacity swash plate type refrigerant compressor

A closed refrigerating circuit for car air conditioning includes a compressor, a condenser, a refrigerant receiver, an expansion valve, and an evaporator. The expansion valve is provided with a constant pressure controlling mechanism for maintaining a pressure in the evaporator at a constant value. The compressor is provided with a continuously variable displacement mechanism for maintaining a superheating temperature of suction refrigerant at a constant value.

Refrigerating circuit for car air conditioning

A variable delivery compressor containing a plurality of compression chambers and reciprocatory compression pistons is adapted for use in an air-conditioning circuit of a vehicle. The compressor has a suction chamber communicating with the compression chambers by way of a plurality of suction valves, some of which are capable of being deformed by a valve pressing mechanism from a first position, where the refrigerant is compressed, to a second position where the compression of the refrigerant is partially ineffective. The valve pressing mechanism contains an axially movable spool actuated by an actuating unit controlled by a cooling-load responsive control unit.

The present invention contemplates a delivery control valve arrangement adapted for use in a refrigerant gas compressor of double-acting swash plate type in which its delivery capacity can be varied automatically by placing the compression chambers on one side of the compressor under 'loaded' and 'unloaded' conditions alternately in response to the cooling load. The valve arrangement includes valve means for establishing fluid communication passages for selective application of discharge and suction pressures of the compressor to a plunger movable between two positions corresponding to the loaded and unloaded conditions, respectively, and actuator means operable in response to evaporator-suction or suction-atmosphere pressure differential for actuating the above valves.

An air conditioning unit for cooling and dehumidifying a passenger room of a vehicle including a reciprocatory piston type refrigerant compressor having a refrigerant suction chamber, a compressed refrigerant discharge chamber, and an independent drive chamber for a drive mechanism to reciprocate compressor piston, a condenser, an expansion valve, an evaporator for thermal exchange, and an evaporating pressure control valve adjustably changing a fluid communication between the evaporator and the suction chamber of the compressor in response to a change is a cooling load. The air conditioning unit further includes a fluid bypass passageway providing a constant fluid communication between the evaporator and the drive chamber of the compressor regardless of the change in the cooling load so that a part of a lubricant containing refrigerant is always introduced into the drive chamber.

Air conditioning unit for vehicle

A variable displacement refrigerant compressor of the variable angle wobble or swash plate type is disclosed. The compressor according to the invention has a displacement control valve which is operable in response to the evaporator pressure so as to restrict the drop thereof by throttling the refrigerant gas flowing through a control port disposed between the evaporator and suction chamber. Crankcase of the compressor is arranged for direct communication with the evaporator so as to keep the crankcase under a pressure which is substantially the same as the evaporator pressure.

Variable displacement refrigerant compressor of variable angle wobble

A variable-delivery compressor of a swashplate type having compression chambers wherein compression is effected by reciprocating movements of double-headed pistons slidably engaging a rotating swashplate in a cylinder block. The cylinder block defines compression chambers in cooperation with front and rear valve plates which have discharge ports communicating with front and rear discharge chambers one of which serves as delivery-adjusting discharge chamber. Delivery-adjusting discharge valves are disposed in the delivery-adjusting discharge chamber and carried by an actuator member which is movable between operative and inoperative positions at which the delivery-adjusting valves are operative and inoperative to close and open the discharge ports in the corresponding valve plate. The corresponding valve plate comprises a portion defining a recess opposite to each delivery-adjusting discharge valve. The recess is held in partial communication with the delivery-adjusting discharge chamber even while the delivery-adjusting discharge valve is held in contact with the corresponding valve plate.

Variable-delivery compressor

A swash plate compressor especially suited for automotive vehicles. The inner housing may be moved in the rear housing in the front and rear direction, as the occasion may demand, for adjusting the compression capacity or performance of the compressor. A partition wall is projectingly projected at the front side of the inner housing for defining an inner or discharge chamber and an outer or suction chamber. A plurality of clamp bolts for fixedly clamping together a rear cylinder block and the rear housing are passed through said suction chamber. The rear wall of the inner housing is formed with an annular thin-walled portion lesser in thickness than the valve plate on the front surface of said inner housing. By the function of said thin-walled portion, the inner housing may be flexed readily to absorb valve plate strain.

Swash plate compressor

A variable-delivery refrigerant compressor wherein the delivery of a compressed refrigerant is adjustable by an actuator which is movable with a discharge pressure of the compressor between a first position at which plural discharge valves corresponding to compression chambers are rendered operative, and a second position at which at least one of the discharge valves is rendered inoperative. A pilot switch valve is disposed in a passage through which the discharge pressure is applied to the actuator. The switch valve controls a supply of refrigerant of the discharge pressure to the actuator such that the actuator is placed in the first position while a suction pressure of the compressor is relatively high, and in the second position while the suction pressure is relatively low.

Variable-delivery refrigerant compressor

A variable delivery compressor having therein a plurality of compression chambers is adapted for compressing a refrigerant gas of a cooling circuit. The compressor has a first delivery chamber communicating with the compression chambers by way of a fixedly arranged valve and a second delivery chamber communicating with the compression chambers by way of a movably arranged delivery valve. This movable valve is formed to include a base portion, a plurality of reed portions formed to radially extend from the outer circumference of the base portion and arranged to face delivery ports, and at least one protrusion formed to radially extend from the outer circumference of the base portion for suppressing the warp of the base portion.
