A vehicle transmission system has an internal lever for changing transmission gears, a select actuator for moving the internal lever to neutral positions N1, N2, N3 in a first direction, a shift actuator for moving the internal lever to 1st-5th gear positions and a reverse position in a second direction substantially normal to the first direction, and a clutch actuator for actuating a clutch. While any one of the actuators is in operation, the pressure of a fluid discharged from the operating actuator is prevented from acting on the select actuator and/or the shift actuator which is not in operation by applying a fluid pressure to the inoperative select actuator and/or the shift actuator to fix the actuator or actuators in a current position against operation, thereby allowing the transmission gears to be changed accurately and smoothly.

Method and apparatus for actuating vehicle transmission

A clutch assembly for automobiles and includes a clutch mechanism, a pivotally mounted operator coupled to the clutch mechanism and pivotable between positions that alternatively produce either engagement or disengagement thereof, a pivotally mounted actuator, and a hydraulic control comprising a piston coupled to the actuator and operable to produce pivotal movement thereof. Also included is an operator positioning means for establishing a predetermined position of the operator and adapted to permit pivotal movement thereof from said predetermined position, an actuator positioning means for establishing a given position thereof relative to the operator means and adapted to permit pivotal movement of the actuator positioning means from the given position, and a manually adjustable coupling operatively coupling the operator and the actuator.

Clutch mechanism for automobile

A hydraulic control unit for an automotive transmission has a change gear operating mechanism and a clutch operating mechanism. All component parts of the control unit are incorporated into one body. These include a first hydraulic actuator for gear shifting and gear selection of the speed change gear, solenoid valves for controlling the first hydraulic actuator, position sensors for sensing positions of the first hydraulic actuator indicative of the selected gear position and shifted gear position of the speed change gear, a second hydraulic actuator for engagement and disengagement of the clutch, solenoid valves for controlling the second hydraulic actuator, and a position sensor for sensing the position of the second hydraulic actuator indicative of engagement and disengagement of the clutch. An air breather provided on the control unit housing on the side of the speed change gear communicates with an air chamber of the second hydraulic actuator through a passage formed within the control unit housing, to also serve as an air breather for the same chamber.

A vehicle transmission control apparatus including a plurality of shift members for operating a vehicle transmission; a lever adapted for movement in one sense into a plurality of positions, one end of the lever being operatively coupled to a different one of the shift members in each of the positions; the lever being further adapted for pivotal movement in response to which the one end of the lever actuates the operatively coupled shift member; a select actuator comprising a select cylinder and a select piston retained thereby, the select piston being coupled to the lever and hydraulically controlled to produce the movement thereof in the one sense; a shift actuator comprising a hydraulic cylinder and a shift piston retained thereby, the shift piston being coupled to the lever and hydraulically controlled to produce the pivotal movement thereof and a control member coupled to the lever and manually operable to produce therefor both the pivotal movement and the movement in the one sense.
